Went corset-shopping with Anna and Sarah today. No corsets were actually purchased, as the only one I really liked that was in my size and fit properly had boning issues (... ehehehehe "boning" eheheh), but they'll call me when they get more in.

Then Sarah had to flee, so Anna, Don and I sat around for a bit in the Elephant House, and then I went non-yarn shoppping. Bought some bobbins, pom pom makers, and, um, a ball of Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk DK, which I was allowed because I need a second ball to be able to use up the first ball I have! *eyedart* This is not a rationalisation!

And then I bought World of Warcraft. Yes, "two weeks before NaNo". Yes, I'm insane. Yes, this is all your fault!

It'll be a while till I'm high enough level to run with a Level 60, methinks. Still, SO MUCH FUN OMG!

I need to investigate these RP servers and what makes them different from the other ones. Sounds like I might have fun there.

Some RP servers have more RP content than others, but mostly the difference is that you'll get more people interacting with you as their character, not themselves. And Guilds that are all RP and have plots and such.

Oooh, might wanna check that out then. This raiding thing sounds too scary for me.

From: [identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com

Well, those guilds raid too, they just raid with plot. :D And raiding really isn't all that scary. You just do all the little instances when your leveling up, learn how to play your class properly in them, and raids are just a larger version of all that. Of course there are other things, like having the propper ammount of resist gear and getting attuned for certain places by you won't have to worry about that for a good while.

... I like cheese? :D

So, okay, current problem: money. Is it normal that I don't ever have enough money to get the gear I can be wearing at my level? Should I do some grinding or something to collect a bunch of money (even though a third of that will then go to fixing gear that's been damaged while fighting)? Am I missing something? (Does the pope shit in the woods?)

From: [identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com

Mmm, cheese. :D

Yes. You NEVER have any money starting out. And buying gear will usually leave you with no money to train. Until around level 20 you're going to be wearing stuff that either drops from stuff you kill or rewards from quests. You can grind, if you're a miner by profession (and on your first char you should really take up two gathering profession, like mining and skinning) there are two mines in Goldshire, the human starting area that you can go through again and again for ores that you can smelt then put on the AH.

Learning how to use the AH is pretty important, greens that drop that you can't use go there, as well as stacks of cloth and all the stuff from your professions.

Yeah, I'm thinking skinning and leatherworking for my hunter(s) would be best. The problem with my elf hunter is that there's not that much skinnable beasties in her starting area, and the tram doesn't run there, dammit. (And I rarely get useable leather, for some reason--it worked fine for my dwarven rogue!)

The AH rarely seems to give me more money than straight-out selling, and sometimes doesn't sell at all. :/

Aaand that was me commenting fro school and forgetting to log in first. >.>

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Are you getting ruined scraps? You can turn those into useable leather.

!!! Now you tell me?!

Sometimes you have to put stuff up a couple times. Are you checking the prices of other sellers stuff and pricing yours a little under theirs?

... don't be silly, that would make sense! Most of the time I've pretty much just put stuff up for the minimum price the AH asks for, but I'll start doing that now, thanks!

From: [identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com

Hee! Um, oops?

General rule is that stuff with it's name in white is useful and or valuable. And NEVER use the base AH price. Example: a tailoring pattern dropped off mobs my main was killing yesterday, the base price the AH gave was 5 silver. According to Allakhazam it's worth about 50 gold. So. :D Just run a search for similar things to what you're selling and price accordingly. If there's nothing to compare use Allakhazam or Thottbot.com.

Ooooh, handy links, thank you!

Am going home now, will be trying to make more money tonight, whee!

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

I'll be playing my night elf, Kaiilen, who's still kinda stuck in her starting area. Yay company!

... Except the servers are offline for maintenance. Dammit! I suppose that's one way to force me to fake being a responsible adult and clean already. :/
