I don't know WTF I did to my hip, but motherfucking ow! *limps*

In other news, much as I hate the heat, I hate airco more. My voice keeps crapping out on me, and I can cut glass with my nipples at this point, and it's not even eleven yet. Grr.

And don't even get me started on the midgies ...

In other news, I've been thinking about doing something new with my hair. Opinions?

shave it, then dye the fringe something fun and summery - vivid orange or grass green

Shave everything. Girls with close cropped hair are teh hottzors.

I am disappointed in the lack of ticky box for the sake of ticking, I'll have you know. XD It's why I ticked the 'explain in comments' box as well.

It's already close cropped! Hence the shaving, it's the only way to lose more hair!

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

But then I'll be hot (temp wise, I mean) again, and it takes six months to grow my hair long enough!

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Oooh, now there's a thought! I have purple, but I always do purple. Maybe I'll try bright blue, or possibly green.

From: [identity profile] ashenmote.livejournal.com

Yeah, but in six months it'll be snowy and cold. Wouldn't it be neat to have temp!hot hair then?

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

It's kinda a lot of upkeep work, though. Every four weeks, and doing it myself is a pain, and my hair just grows too fast for it. :/

From: [identity profile] ashenmote.livejournal.com

You're lucky, I cannot think of how to argue with that.

Then I am for a mohawk.

mowhawk then dye it purty colors and PUT IT IN LEETLE BRAIDS

Hi! I used to adore femgeeks, and you seem like an awesome person. Plus, Edinburgh is cool. So, I friended you.

Also, it is 1am, and I am not coherent.

Additionally, your country of origin makes the best pain au chocolats in the world. Fuck the French, dude, the Belgian pastry is amazing. :D

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Damn, now you're making me crave Belgian pastry. Real, proper koffiekoeken, god, how I miss those. Sigh.

From: [identity profile] surexit.livejournal.com

Out of interest, are you Flemish-speaking or French-speaking?

And with my amazing powers of deductive skill... koffiekoeken are cakes? With... coffee?

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Flemish-speaking. I do speak a moderate amount of French, but it's basic, and it's wobbly.

Kind of. Literally, it's "coffeecookies," but it's really pastry. We have a much more diverse selection of pastries in Belgium, it seems, and these in specific are the kind meant to have with coffee, in the afternoon, if that makes sense? Most people have them for breakfast/lunch on Sundays. :) (That and pistoletjes, hard buns. Sigh. Memories.)

From: [identity profile] surexit.livejournal.com

Yay Flemish! (I have a Dutch grandmother, so I'm interested in Flemish and Afrikaans. And Dutch, obviously.)

Afternoon coffee instead of afternoon tea? :O!

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Oooh, I see. :) I rather like Afrikaans, becauseI can understand it, though not speak it, and some of the terms and words are just delightfully descriptive. :D

... Yes? Coffee! Tea is icky. *is kicked out of country for heresy*

Really? I spotted several differences when I was in Ieper. Classified as a dialect?

From: [identity profile] rane-ab.livejournal.com

<butts in>
I think Flemish and Dutch differ in a somewhat similar way as, say, British and American English. Though we do have the same spelling. But we have different accents and we sometimes use different words or expressions (which can sometimes lead to a bit of hilarity). The difference is much less notable when people write (properly) than when they speak, though.
But we do have lots of different dialects and words that get used only regionally even inside of Belgium (as I assume is the case in the UK as well), so I don't know who you were listening to in Ieper. ;-) Unless they're a newsreader or something, people don't necessarily tend to speak what we would call "general" Dutch, i.e. official, proper Dutch. </butts out>

From: [identity profile] surexit.livejournal.com

I wasn't listening to anybody. *grins* I don't actually know Dutch, I've just seen it written down a lot, and I thought I saw differences.

But now you tell me they have the same spelling, and I am unmasked as a total know-nothing. *woes around sadly* Possibly I was hallucinating?

From: [identity profile] rane-ab.livejournal.com

Maybe some people are just terrible at spelling? ;-) (Or it was old Dutch or something...)
