So, one year two years ago today, I arrived in Edinburgh. Technically, it was yesterday, but I constantly get my dates mixed up--this is why LJ is a good thing, I can go back and check the dates on events, heh--, but today was my actual expat anniversary. It feels odd.

I've often meant to write about the culture shock and little things that made/make the big difference to me, but in the end, the subtle differences between Belgium and Scotland aren't really all that interesting, and I 'd have to be here a bit longer still before I'll be able to be coherent about the actual "expat experience," so. Yeah.

So yes, this entry basically has no piont. ("This is different from your usual entries how?" Shut up.)

I know, right?

I was thinking of organising some sort of party to celebrate, but this Saturday is the flat-cooling party, and the Saturday after that I'll be over in Glasgow for Pride, and when the hell did I grow a social life? o_O

Is that Ben's flat cooling? *so jealous* I wanted to go, but there was this pesky trip to Tintagel that I could go on about for weeks instead... :)

'Tis, yeah.I'm sad you won't be there, but I hope you have fun where you're going!

Maybe we should have a combined one-year/two-year anniversary for you, me, and Don sometime in early July, like the 2nd or something? We could invite all the cool kids and do something... um.. expat-y. What do expats do, anyway, besides work?

Oooh, that sounds cool, let's! I could possibly whip up some Typical Belgian Food as well. :D Unless we wanna just have a get-together in a pub or something. I dunno, I don't have all that much space in my own flat, so that's out.

Oh, let's totally do this. I have now made plans. Depending on people we invite, I can host it at my flat - we would have two relatively big rooms and one smaller room to have people in, and it's probably easier than a pub in the summer.

I have plans! Tee hee! With Canadian food and covering all of my furniture with white sheets as "snow difts" (cuz it's cold in Canada, don'tcha know), which keeps a lot of drunken mishaps from happening...

Ooo! We must plan for serious and stuffs! I will email you went I get home from the salt mines!

Sounds fab! I have a Belgian flag, and while I have no more Belgian chocolate, I can probably make some snacks or something. :D

PLANS! BWEEE!
