I'm waiting for my mum to let me know what she thinks of my CV (she does this sort of thing for a living, so I might as well get the professional opinion :D), so in the meantime, I will shake the Magic LJ Eight-Ball:

I'd go for the MSWord document, actually. PDFs can be a pain in the arse to view, but almost everyone has MSWord. Keep the PDF version though, maybe make it clear you can submit it that way also, if they so desire?

That's a good point, actually. I tend to assume most everyone has Adobe Reader, but assumtption makes an ass out of u and umption, so yeah.

(BTW, if you click on "View answers" and then on "Answer Poll", you can edit your responses. :)

Lots of people do have Adobe Reader; I have it myself. Anywhere you submitted your résumé would likely have it as well. I just think the MSWord format is the safest way to go, even though MSWord can be as big a pain sometimes as Adobe Reader.

However. This might be my personal prejudice talking, so take it with a grain of salt. Or chocolate, whichever you prefer. XD

mmm, chocolate ... </Homer Simpson>

Yeah, but Word does tend to be the standard for CVs, so maybe I should just conform. Sigh.

the reasons PDF might actually 'get you in trouble' is that maney places have automated ways o deal with a Word resume, lifting content out to insert it in a DB, for example, and even if it's possible to CP from your PDF the different format will be enough to annoy them (sadly). I would say send Word, mention you have a PDF version for easier viewing or printing, AND, especially (this is my way of sticking it to MS and trying to increase format-awareness when I job-hunt) attach a RTF or TXT version of it as well to your email.

I'd not thought of that, actually--though it did occur to me that people might change the font type or size for printing off, and thus prefer word. I shall follow your recommendations!
