Thanks to my usual method of "push buttons until it does what I want it to do," I do believe I've managed to get my wiki layout more or less in line with the rest of the site. There's some minor things I need to faff about with a bit more, like making the side bar less cluttered, but it's at least mostly decent-looking, now. Wheeee!

Now, to decide if I want to open it up to the general public or not ...

Have roped a co-worker into picking me and my new desk up from IKEA this afternoon (he works an hour longer than I do, so I'm taking the bus over there, getting my stuff, and then waiting for him outside the store, so he doesn't have to wait around while I wibbble between the two desks I want (more on that in a bit)), andunless Argos fuck up again, I should be getting my bookcases tomorrow, which means all I'll need to actually go and get is the replacement glass for my coffee table. (If you remember, I smashed it with my knee about ten months ago.) I also have to chase up on the people who claimed my stuff and ask when they can come and pick it up, especially the big stuff like my desk.

Okay, so, I'm wibbling between two desks, and I need you lot to help me decide:

Option One: Flärke. On the one hand, it's cheap, and it fits with the general "design" of my living room (yellow wallpaper, lots of wood). It's also significantly less "deep" than the other one, thanks to the keyboard tray, which does make a difference considering how little space I have. On the other hand, I'll have to put the computer tower on the actual desk itself (or on the floor, which I refuse to do because it's hard to clean), which is kind of annoying, even though I've been having to do this for several years. (Next computer I buy is totally going to be a lying-down model, I swear to god.)

Option Two: Krister. More ergonomical, and it has that handy little tower-shelf on the side, as well as a CD holder and a shelf for a printer, should I ever get one. Said shelf does mean that I'll have fuck-all in the way of leg space, though, and I can vividly picture myself hitting my shins against it several times a day. It's also, if you include the tower holder, actually wider (and "deeper") than the other one, though smaller-looking and move-around-able, which you never know when that could come in handy. It's also nearly twice as expensive.

If you can afford it, I'd say go for the Krister. Although it hasn't got the keyboard tray, it looks like you'll end up with more space on the actual top of your desk because your tower won't sitting up there with your monitor.

OTOH, it's actually less wide in terms of actual desk-top than the Flärke (the width measurement includes the tower holder thingie), and judging by the picture and by what I remember from the one we had in the meeting room at my old job, there's not a lot of space on the Krister either.

(Which may be a good thing, because that'll keep me from pilingdirty dishes on there, but that's another matter entirely. <g>)

Krister cannot really be used for anything but a computer desk. there's ot really any space on it, except if you remove the KB ad stash it somewhere else temporarily, like, to use it like a 'normal' desk.
