... *faceplants onto desk* Wizard need caffeine badly.

So I'm not going to be going to Escapade this year. Sigh. I kept holding out hope that I'd manage, but it's time to face the music and admit I just can't afford it this year. This sucks. After this year, I was really looking forward to spending a few days just hanging out with my friends and talking fantalk and probably drinking too much again at at least one point, and ... Yeah. *gloom*

The Dutch have been suspiciously quiet this last week. This is what's known as the silence before the storm, isn't it? *eyes Holland nervously*

Roleplaying tonight, which at least is a bright point in my week.

[ETA] Fuckity crap. Just finished the red stripe on the Gryffindor hat I'm knitting, and guess what? I forgot to brig the yellow yarn. So not only am I knitting-less at work, but this evening as well, which means I'll be fidgeting like mad. I think it may be worth nipping down home for the yarn, another quick look for my dice, and possibly to change, before I go to Kai's. *muttergrumbleBAHHUMBUG*[/ETA]

Sadly, google gave me only one result for "yarn delivery service" and that was just a blog. The internet isn't as versatile as it always pretends.

Heh. Well, I think the extra pound it'll be to get home and back here for RPing is cheaper than a delivery service, anyway. :D

But on the other hand the carrier would certainly wear a fancy knitted uniform.

And you just reminded me of a role playing group I attended long ago. At some point the GM got himself a girlfriend who refused to participate in the game for religious reasons, but attended the sessions anyway. She simply sat nearby with her knitting, listening intently to every word.
*twitches*
Those were some damned self-conscious rpg sessions. :D

To be fair, she felt perfectly comfortable and really enjoyed listening to the games, to a degree that she knew more about most characters and the campaign than anybody else, she just refused strictly to participate, because rpg=evil.

It was weird.

That does sound weird! I just multitask knitting with other things. LIke RPing, or watching a movie, or reading porn online, or ... Yeah, I'm a pervy granny in a 25-yo body. Sigh.

I'm not sure how open god is to a 'but I didn't inhale' kind of argument, but of course I wish her the best of luck with that :)
Knitting while rp-ing is perfectly okay. I even advocate that because it distracts the people from devouring the whole chocolate supply, constantly rolling their dice to use up the bad numbers or building dice tower until they keel over and roll about everywhere. And the like.
...
You know, pervy_granny would make a great username. I'm surprised it isn't taken yet.

And I am terminally talkative today, but I shut up now because I have offline stuff to do.

What's wrong with dice towers, eh? Eh? *pokes*

And yeah, refusing to play it but watching it quite that attentively is ... odd. o_O

awfully sorry to hear you won't make Escapade - I was looking forward to seeing you! but there's always next year, yeah?

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

I hope so, yes. :( I was really looking forward to it this year, too. I seriously need a break, and ugh.

I second the "sorry you can't make Escapade this year" sentiment! It would have been really nice to reconnect there! But I totally understand that sometimes the Real Life, she does not co-operate :/.

Dammit! And I was making a point to go this year so I could stalk you!

That's okay, I'm sharing a room with [livejournal.com profile] clumsygyrl. I will miss you, but I'll be okay.

*kissie*

I know! The one year I really needed the mental boost, too. :( I'm going to start saving up for next year, though, and dammit, if I have to get a second job for a while to get the money, I will make it then!

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

I knoooow! :( I hope maybe you'll like it so much you'll come back next year, because I really want to meet you and hang out and everything, but. Feh. Stupid money. :(

*snugs you tight* You'll be missed at Escapade.

From: [identity profile] dine.livejournal.com

since you need a break, is there any way you can do something more local, and hopefully less costly? it might not be a slash con, but there's bound to be something you can do to provide a mental break.

From: [identity profile] sorchar.livejournal.com

If it would help at all you could room with me and [livejournal.com profile] dine. We might be getting a suite.

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Yeah, I've been thinking about that, what with planning my vacation days for this year and all. (I have a bad habit otherwise of ending up with like three weeks of vacation left at the start of November, oops.) Having slashfen nearby helps, obviously, and there's a UK con I might go to, and I'm trying to decide if there's anything else I want to do.

Sadly, I don't even have enough money for registration, let alone the flight over there, which are my big costs. :(
