It looks like this, and you can see the kind of ball it makes--you can use those from the inside out, which is v. easy for when I knit at work, because I can put the ball in a baggie, run the thread out of it, and stuff the baggie-with-ball in my shoulder bag and knit from it without having the ball rolling around on the bottom of my bag, which happens with hand-wound balls.
