So I just bought a Thermos flask, and figured I'd actually read the instructions for once in my life, and um. Under "Use and Care": Do not look directly into flask when filling. o_O Note also that this sentence does not appear in either the Dutch or French versions of the instructions, and as far as I can see it's not in the German one, either. Is there something in Thermos flasks that could be lethal to English-speakers?

Dare I suggest the extra warning in English might be for the benefit of that very large English-speaking nation where they are notoriously liable to sue for anything and everything?

As a member of said nation who, when removing the sunshield from the front windshield of my car noticed the warning, "Do not drive with shield in place" and wondered aloud,"who is this warning for and can I please be notified when he gets in his car to drive?" I can only say that yours is probably all too accurate a suggestion.
