So [livejournal.com profile] babyofthegroup has been making noises about running a Cannon Fodder Challenge, and I thought I'd pimp it out a little. In Drew's own words, for those of you who are too lazy to click:

The gist of it would be that we'd be writing stories about the pawns in the war (any of them -- versus Grindlewald, or either war against Voldemort), that is, the characters who don't do the planning, but do the actual doing. I'm thinking of putting something like this together, but I'm trying to gauge interest first.

Ack...that wass close...I said maybe, but I'm unfortunatly very anti HP. I thought it was just generally stories about the pawns of war :0
That's what I get for running on three hours sleep.

See? You have readership, you got a whole bunch of responses. I have v.v. small readership, I got two comments.

Thanks for polling this!

:D I'm still not going to actually organise it, but I'm more than willing to pimp it on my LJ, GJ and JF account. :) And of course I'm available for whingeing to if you find yourself wondering what you started. (Ah, Mistletoe Magic, how I don't miss you ...)

From: [identity profile] babyofthegroup.livejournal.com

Well, sure, I'll organize. But I haven't thought through the format -- whether this would be an exchange, or just a deadlined writing challenge or what. If it's the latter, that's really easy: participant name, character. Period. Occasional LJ post/email about when things are due. People post their stuff, I make a links page. Thus, that's probably how I'd do it.

Also, it's looking like, what, four people are definites now? Not really enough, I don't think.

But when you're actually running it, these people will pimp it out on their own LJ, and I'll actually pimp it opn JF and GJ, which should attract a bunch of people as well.

I think a deadlined writing challenge would be good, possibly with people having to "claim" their main character, so the different stories are more spread out across all the secondary characters?

From: [identity profile] babyofthegroup.livejournal.com

Yeah, my thought would be for claiming. I'd probably come up with a character list, with the stated addendum that anyone could write about someone not on the list; they'd just have to say who.

nod* That sounds like it'll work the best. (And can I just pre-emptively call dibs on Lee, BTW? :D )

From: [identity profile] babyofthegroup.livejournal.com

Well duh :D If I let anyone else take Lee, I'd have to, I don't know, move into the Witness Protection Program or something.

It sounds like fun ([livejournal.com profile] amycus needs to shut up, thx) but it really would all depends on how much time there is. :\ ::would read, no matter what though!::
