My flat's been an unholy mess for weeks now, and while I'm slowly making progress, it's difficult to do when I feel meh and lazy and mentally tired all the time--a condition I'm sure isn't exactly helped by living in a sty. You can see the vicious circle, I'm sure. I'm hoping to get at least mostly done by Thursday. I know the ironing won't get done by then, but that's something I can stash in a hamper and do over the weekend. And then I need to develop a cleaning/housework routine, and then I need to start working on goals.
I tried doing this last year, but then that whole job thing happened and I kinda got sidetracked, so I'm trying again. Basically, I want to set myself three goals every month, and some sort of incentive/reward if I manage to reach them. . And of course when I say "each month", a month would start on my pay day, because then I know I'll have enough money to get my incentives/rewards. So. Goals I can currently think of off the top of my head, in no particular order:
- Develop a routine for housework chores.
- Quit smoking.
- Start working out (running, swimming, and crunches) on a regular basis so my knees, shoulders and back stop bugging me.
- Start actually keeping track of my spendings.
- Start budgeting money so I can save some.
- Start writing on a regular, daily basis.
- Write up a menu plan for the week each weekend, and stick to it.
- Sort out my paperwork and stuff that's now piled in a box in my bedroom.
- Get rid of stuff I don't use anymore.
- Find bookshelves and sort and sort/put up books properly. Ditto for DVDs.
- Get on vitamins and iron supplements of some kind.
- Get a medical checkup done and look into wether or not I should be on the pill to regulate my cycle. (I wouldn't go on the pill purely for convenience's sake, but if it decreases my risk of osteoperosis (which runs in the family--my mum's now on the pill to ward off menopause and thereby hold back osteoperosis) later in life if I get a regular cycle now, I will.)
- Get involved in political activism, volunteer, whatever. Something.
- Get some houseplants, one for the bedroom, perhaps, and definitely something to put in that big pot in the bathroom.
This month I'll probably have more than three goals, because a bunch of them are relatively small ones, but I've not quite decided yet which ones. First, we clean! Actually, first we eat, and call my parents. Then we clean.
