I'm just so not having my day. I had a minor toothache yesterday, which a quick dose of painkillers took care of. Didn't think more of it. Woke up this morning looking like I'd turned into a fucking hamster, or at least, the left side of my face did. Seriously, it's swollen and looks aweful and it does't even hurt, but I've been icing it all day and it's not going away, so I'm calling NHS24 or whatever it is to ask if I ought to find a dentist or go to the doctor or the ER or whatnot. And calling into work, possibly. Argh.

Great, now there's a fever, as well. Off to take a bath and bring my temp down.

Hate life.

Tell me about it. Worst thing is that in order to ice my cheek without getting cramp in my arm, I've resorted to tying an icepack to my face with a tea towel. I look like a freaking easter egg. Seasonally appropriate and objectively hilarious, yes, but not all that funny from this end.

I laugh because otherwise I would cry. Sigh.

Haven't called yet. (I know, I'm horrible about this.) I keep thinking the swelling's gone down, but it hasn't, so I'm calling at seven.

It sounds like you've got an infection of some sort? You'll probably need antibiotics and stuff.

Let us know how it goes, and if you need anyone to bring you ice cream or something. :o)

Just called, and they think it's an abces and referred me to a dental clinic for painkillers/antibiotics/advice. It doesn't hurt, thankfully, except when I touch it, but I kept rolling over onto that side when I was trying to sleep, so I'm generally cranky and argh. And did I mention it looks aweful?

I'll keep you posted on the results. Probably will need a round of antibiotics and stuff, and will quite possibly get lectured for my bad dental habits, but I can get through that. I hope.

Get thee some medical attention, definitely. If it's an abcess or something it can mess up your whole body.
