Boo!

My afternoon lecture got cancelled, so I get to come home! Yay!

How's things?

Not entirely good, to understate it, I'm afraid. Everything else in my life aside, there is NOTHING DO DO here at work, and while on the one hand, I'm getting paid to read slash, on the other hand I would like some distraction. Bah.

On top of that, there are plot bunnies gnawing at my ankles. Dammit.

But on the bright side, I managed to get Bittorrent working, so I can go and download B5 until I can afford the DVDs. If the download'll work, of course, I spent all last night dling the entire UMX run of comics and it errrored on me at 84% and wou;dn't start again. Grr, I say.

Where are you downloading from? Finding good sources has been a problem ever since Suprnova got shut down.

Does this mean you have HD space now? I still have the entire run of Space: Above and Beyond over here (and it would likely be quicker for us to meet up and do data transfer than for you to download it - if you have space on your iPod I could put it on that, or we could pop round and visit sometime and put it directly onto the computer?)

VIPTorrent I think is the name of the place. Bit patchy, I've noticed, but not too bad.

Yup, 120GB of it. :D The RAM is still being arsey, and I need to pick up a decent graphics card, but at least I'm now running mostly smoothly again.

I'd love to meet up some time this weekend, if that's cool with you two. Need distraction and all, and frankly, it's been way too long since I've actually seen other people except my coworkers.

Depends on both how tired we are, and how much work I decide to do this weekend: but I could possibly send E around with S:AAB on my iPod for you to copy off. :o) (And perhaps the X-Men or Spider-man movies? Oh, and if there's anything you want from here or here, lemme know, since copying files in person would be much quicker than downloading from our pathetic upstream.)

Our place is rather scary at the moment and not really suitable for public consumption, or I'd invite you over. :o)

Heh, my place isn't too much better. I shall try and corner your wife on AIM tonight and see if she's up to anything. ^_^ *goes to take notes on music, etc. she wants, muahahah*

I've recently been getting lots of nice stuff from allofmp3.com. Pay-for downloads, but at US$2 for a 192kbps AAC full album, it's cheap enough.

I have another half a dozen U2 albums that I need to process: the tags are all screwed. I might do that this afternoon, actually.

You pay US$0.02 per megabyte in downloads, so the higher quality you want, the more it costs.

It's also potentially not illegal, yay.

I'm not convinced that's a valid defense over here, though. :D but hey, never stopped me before.

... Kay, I just read a subject line of "Parts Order" as "Pants Order". Clearly, more caffeine is in order!

Um. Not being much of a Marvel person, I actually don't really know what you said there. And what happened. Wanna give me a summary, so I can rage as well?

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Summary: Northstar is Marvel's best-known Gay Superhero. (Also Canadian. And snarky. Find scans here. Love!) He's being killed off by mindcontrolled!Wolverine in the next issue, even though the plot pointed to Rachel grey being offed, but, and I quote from the writer:
Having him murder a young teenage girl would have just been impossible for one of Marvel's premiere characters and a big mistake, I think. I'm not keen on seeing girls sliced up in comics.

Sexist and homophobic! GAH!

(Also, Nortstar = half of my current OTP, so I'm double pissed off.)

Killing off the gay guy. How very early 1950s of them.

Anyone plans to write them many many angry letters and get the fanbase to cause some noise? Post something on scans_daily, or.... get some people to start a riot. Or something.

Killing off the gay guy after a history of having him fall in love with straight (or "straight") guys, as well. Fuckers. I hate it when they come up with a gay character whose entire role in a series/movie is to be gay, and never even give him/her a proper love interest. Argh. And now he's outlived his usefullness, so he can die--better him than a girl, because god forbid we have actual equality, and the girls can get hurt as much as the guys do! Oh no, must protect the innocent maiden!

Fuckers.

My only consolation is that no one stays dead in Marvel universes. (Yes, Oh Entire Summers Clan, I am indeed looking at you!)

I'm not really in the fandom enough to organise anything, but I've no doubt others are on it already.

YES! I shall continue to live in the happy land of denial, and possibly write many AUs in which I fix all the stupid shit they did to the poor bloke.

It's the state where one does NOT run around shaking their fist at things and muttering at unsuspecting bystanders, "well he's NOT dead" or "well they're NOT broken up", while threatening violence towards various writers, producers, and network executives.
