In a world where we get news from halfway around the world the same effing hour it happens, 48 hours go by, and the only proof of the whole thing is the entry the user posted about it? Sorry, I'm still skeptical. It sounds a little too much like a Hollywood movie.
If it happened, I can see why--I mean, if it was reported, they have to investigate it. That's their job. I'm just not so sure it did.
Except apparently it's not an uncommon (or even recent) occurence. You're right to be scetpical, of course, but several people I know and trust have known her for years and vouched that she'd never fake something like this, so I'm believing.
Yeah, I don't blame the secret service--though the laws that mean that the girl is likely to end up on a no-fly list and could potentially have all sorts of problems due to having an FBI record disturb me. What really makes me want to throw things, though, is that she got reported in the first place, likely by a fandom person. Because if someone involved in your hobby pisses you off, the right thing to do is sic the secret service on them, apparently. And I thought outing people to their boss was the lowth of bad taste in that regard. Man.
Ah, see, I don't have that, the additional sources for credibility. The only person I know and trust who believes it happened is you. I'm not saying your word isn't credible--I just like to have more proof than the testimony of, at most, two people. It appeases my inner (and outer) cynic.
I don't know if it'll cause problems like that, her having an FBI record. An artist in The Mother's art gallery has an FBI record and he's had no problems that she or I know of, so. It's possible, yes, but it's also likely that it won't cause any trouble.
And yeah, if it really happened, the fact that she got reported would make me want to clobber something. The whole thing's just stupid. It's a story borrowed from Hollywood, except this has a potentially better cast.
Yeah, that's the part that scaes me, that there are people who would do that, who would take a fannish dispute into RL like that. I mean, what's next? When the footie season starts up again, do I need to flock my entries to make sure no one tries to call the cops on me for threatening to kneecap the ref?
*shakes fish* Melle, you pissed me off. I'm reporting you to LJ authorities (as soon as Brad stops screwing Chuck and/or Frank*)!
Er, I mean. I'd understand the paranoia, but there's a difference between kneecapping a ref and threatening the pres. XD Although from what I understand, she herself didn't threaten him--she prayed to God or something like that.
* For the totally fucking idiotic people in the viewing audience tonight, yes, that was a joke. Get over it already.

Yeah, threatening the prez is actually justified. Er, I mean. Hi! :D
Man, fandom is just full of WTFness this week, it seems. First this whole thing, then the f_w post on the girl who doesn't want anyone downloading her stories for offline reading and goes to ridiculous lengths to ensure they don't, ... It's the lunar exlipse, isn't it? It's driving people INSANE!
Of course it is! As long as you don't actually plan to DO anything to him. It's really a very bad thing to do. *nod*
Maybe it is the lunar eclipse. I don't know. All I know is there's a reason I pretty much stay out of fandom: it's fandom. I got sick of all the fandom drama before it got this bad, and I thank Trent daily for that. XD
