Could someone please tell me in which universe the Creative Suite has not been "sufficiently promoted"? Because as far as I'm aware, the damn thing's been hyped into next year. But oh no, apparently we should tell people when they order an upgrade for PhotoShop and Illustrator online (!) that we ought to notify them that they'd be better off upgrading to the Creative Suite.

Yes. Because god forbid we don't hold our customers' hands all the fucking time! How the fuck does this idiot remember how to breathe without being constantly reminded?

*breathes deep* Okay, I'm better now.

In other news, if I'm scarce until Wednesday, it's because my grandmother's coming over to visit for a couple of days, so I'll be busy showing her around and stuff. So don't worry if I disappear off the face of the internet until at least Monday.

And now, a meme:
I'm declaring it International Recommend-A-Movie Day. This means everyone should go to their LJ right now and tell their friends to watch a really good movie which most of them probably have not seen. And then tell more people to do it. Hopefully, we'll all have lots and lots of recommendations by the end of the day. ([livejournal.com profile] trollprincess by way of [livejournal.com profile] elfiepike) I'm going to reccommend several, because I'm like that.

First of all, I must of course mention what may well be my favourite movie of all times: The Defiant Ones. The plot summary off IMDB says:

Joker Jackson and Noah Cullen are two bandits who're in jail. They hate each other. They fly [ed.note: I think they mean "flee"] and are pursued by the police. While they're chained, the two are dependent on one another. When they eventually get rid of their chains, their hostility has been changed into fellowship and respect...

This one paragraph really doens't do the movie any justice. You can find a much better summar here. From this, you will understand why I love this movie. It has two excellent actors (Sidney Poitier and Tony Curtis), it has that whole enemies-becoming-friends thing that I love (see below, heh), and it was in its time a highly controversial movie because of its message of racial equality.

On top of that, it's just a really good movie. I like black-and-white movies in general, and this one is made even better by the soundtrack--by which I mean, the lack of one. The only music in the entire movie comes from onscreen, either from a radio carried by one of the pursuers, or from Cullen's singing. No sountrack, no background music to let us know how to feel. And it works.

Also, of course, it's slashy as hell. In fact when I first saw this movie at the age of twelve, I had my first "slash vision", which I then promptly ignored for several years. Ahem

The second movie I want to reccommend is Bound, for three simple reasons: 1) Jennifer Tilly is hot, 2) So is Gina Gerschon, and 3) there was an actual lesbian sex advisor on the set, so the sex scenes between the two aforementioned hot women are scorshingly hot and realistic. Mrow!

And now, because I have five minutes left, the Friday Five:

1. What is the best dessert you've ever had?
Chocolate mousse after my mum's recipe. Mmmmmmmmmdelicious. I need to make that again soon, I think.

2. Is there a dessert that just plain grosses you out?
Er, anything with bananas? I dunno, I'm pretty easy-going about my desserts.

3. Straight out of the container or with lots of toppings .... tell us how you like your ice cream.
Vanilla or stragiatelli, in a mug and layered with caramel and other sauces. Alternatively, straight out of the tub Ben and Jerry's Vanilla Caramel Fudge. Mmmmm.

4. Cookie dough, brownie mix, cake batter or the finished products?
The finished products, please, though i do like my brownies and cookies to be slightly moist.

5. You've just invented a great new dessert .... what's in it and what is it called?
Lots of chocolate and whipped cream. I'll probably call it something like Chocolate-Coma-In-A-Bowl.

And you've not even had the proper version. :D

You and John need to come to dinner one of these weeks, man. I love cooking for people and I hardly ever get the chance to!

Heee! Dude, I'm glad you liked it! :D

And dammit, I wish I could find this article I read about the impact it had at the time. Because it may seem a bit smarmy now, but it was revolutionary then, and Sidney Poitier said in this one interview that he'd done ... some movie where black people were stereotyped as usual at the time, and he said that he'd basically done that movie so he could afford to do The Defiant Ones. (And Tony Curtis apparently insisted Sidney Poitier got first billing, which once again confirms my belief that Mr Curtis is teh awesome. But I digress mightily.)

*off to rent/buy/borrow/steal "Bound"*

How exactly did that movie escape my radar until now? Was I living in a cave in 1996 or something?

CLEARLY, YO!

Try and get it on DVD if you can, the commentary is so worth it.
