Okay, I need somebody with a better sense of colour-coordination than I to give me some advise on my plans to redecorate my flat. Keep in mind that I'm on a budget, and that I'm not allowed to paint or wallpaper, so any tips or tricks you may have are welcome.

Right now, I have either white or off-white wallpaper, white wooden doorframes and windowframes, and carpet that's best described as "dark". It's also icky and damaged. It's not bad, but it's not me, and I'd like to get rid of the current "jumbled together" feel of the place, while not breaking my lease and staying within a reasonable budget. So. (And yes, I do wish I had pictures to show you what the whole place looks like, but I'll try to describe as best I can.)

The hallway is smallish, with a (painted white) wooden cupboard and a lot of exposed meters (gas, electricity, etc.). It's also somewhat oddly-shaped, which is going to make it difficult to get a rug to cover the whole area, but I'm thinking of a round one, perhaps, in a dark yellow. And maybe get a cheap, lighter yellow fabric to cover up the meters above door-top-level, and the cupboard. OTOH, that'll bring out the white walls below doorframe level even more, so I'm not sure what to do there.

The bedroom is my biggest problem because it has the most dark (wood) furniture, and while I've had dark wood furniture before, it didn't look so ... drab. This may be the combination with the carpet, and the godaweful state of the walls in this room. I currently have a rug that covers most of the exposed floor, blue with a sort of stylised depiction of the globe on it, and an easy chair covered with a sheet with similarily styled star signs. I'm thinking I could make it a theme, maybe use cardboard to make stick against the wall/on the ceiling with blue-tac. And I need new curtains here, because the ones that're there now are this aweful seventies orange, and ew.

The wallpaper in the lounge/living room/kitchen is in much better shape, and a decent kind of off-white (eggshell?), so I'm thinking of complimenting that with reds. Deep red, sort of burgundy, for the floor (and the carpet is deplorable here, so I'd be going for big-ass rugs that cover must of the floor), and something to break up the walls. Possibly a bunch of artwork. And (also burgundy?) sheets type things to cover the sofas, which are the same kind of "dark" as the floor.

The main problem with the kitchen is storage space, but I've some ideas for that, and I'm thinking of getting some roman blinds for the window, which is very high, and in front of which is the sink. This is nice, as I can look outside while doing the dishes, but it makes normal curtains impossible.

The bathroom is another tricky one, because it's small, and the walls are covered in either white tiles (over the bath) or in white-painted wood up to chest-height (walls). I'm thinking I could try for green, create a bit of a rainforesty feel, which some plants as well.

ETA: Heh, of course I go and forget the room I'm in, which is the box room, but that'll mostly be a matter of organising and stuff, as most of the walls will be covered in either book shelves or pinboards anyway.

... I need a "domestic" icon. *hangs head in shame*

We should meet up sometime this week and you can borrow my camera for pictures of both the room and the new hair colour. :o)

As for rooms - you know the big fuckoff pentagram we've got? That person had a lot of other things, that make great wall hangings. Want me to dig out their eBay ID and see if they're still selling them?

That'd be cool, ta. :)

And yes, we should meet up! My gran's coming over on Friday, so any time before then? (Er, not that I don't want you to meet my gran, but you know.)

E's not going to be going to work tomorrow, and we're going to be going to the bank, and stuff. We could time it so that we could meet you around the Rose Street area after you get off of work?

Let us know when, and stuff. Text messages work (you have the new numbers, right?)

Sounds good. I can get to Rose Street around five, I think. Pick a pub and I'll meet you there?

Don;t have the new numbers, could you e-mail them?
