Maybe. The thing is that you're limited in how much you can put on a DVD-r, because it's only a single layer. It depends on what software you use, too, iDVD isn't going to be much good for that sort of thing, but Toast would be excellent.

There are Bittorrent sites with just DVD images for movies - large to download, but you can burn it direct to a DVD (using Toast).

I've been making VCDs out of TV episodes using Toast, but I'm going to stop now that I've realised I could just spend under £100 on a DVD-R drive and put several episodes per DVD instead.

*notes this* I guess I'll see once I actually have the laptop--which will probably be the first week of September. I'm going home for a visit last weekend of August, as there's a big family to-do in my grandparents' second house before it's being sold, so that's where we'll likely be given the money, and YES I MUST SPEND IT RIGHT AWAY! :D

And you're going with me to make sure I make the right choice, right? (And by "right choice" I mean "any choice at all", because I am notoriously bad about decisions.)
