Escapade Countdown: 15 days
Okay, so the disappearance of my bank card sort of threw a wrench in my plans for a moment (grrrrr), but I just did some calculations, and not only can I afford to take $500 to Escapade (hotel, pre-registration for next year, and spending money), but I can afford to buy a new, proper suitcase! I saw a nice, hard-cased, bright blue one on sale, so I'll be heading over there this weekend. And if all goes well, by Thursday I should have both my Alphasmart and a new pair of boots! Now if only I could find a dress for our fancy dinner ...
I've been acting all neurotic about packing, for some reason. I never used to be this bad, but then I always just used to throw my entire wardrobe in a suitcase and stuffed the rest in my carry-on, but that's not really an option this time. For one thing, I now have more clothes than actually fit in a suitcase, and I'm trying to keep my carry-on down to a minimum this time *. Note the use of the word "trying", by the way, because my carry-on list is currently at eighteen items. My suitcase list is at nineteen. Granted, the carry-on list is mostly small items (cigarettes, migraine pills, Alphasmart, noteblock and pens, etc) while the suitcase list is full of "t-shirts (5+2)" and stuff like that.
* With the apparent tightening of security measures, and with my luck, I'm encisioning myself getting picked out for a random carry-on check. While I don't mind that in and of itself, if this happens, I'd rather not have to demonstrate exactly how much crap I can fit into one backpack. Ahem. :)
I'll be taking myself down to the bank today to arrange for a news card, a money order to pay
deepsix back, and Traveller's Cheques. And if I have the prescription for my migraine pills with me I'll go down to the pharmacy as well. I'm just a font of activity today.
In other news, I remain mostly baffled by the boobie incident. You could barely see anything, what with the nipple thing! Sheesh.
