And then of course there was, finally, The Lord of the Rings: Attack of the Hobbits The Return of the King. Warning: I ramble a lot. ""

I knew beforehand that Saruman wasn't going to be in it, ditto for the Scrounging of the Shire, so I wasn't really surprised at any of the changes, nor really disappointed. Denethor's death was kind of "Meh," but other than that I was incredibly happy about this movie.

I spent most of this movie in a haze of hobbitlove. Frodo and Sam, and Merry and Pippin, and ohgodIwantHobbitchildren! Especially the part where Frodo tells Sam to go home, and then when Sam comes back all knight in shinging armous, and Merry and Pippin saying goodbye and Merry was crying and he ran up the tower to see Gandalf and Pippin leave and then when they reunited it was so a fucking love scene and I want to cast commentary on this soverybadlyithurts.

The battle scenes were breathtaking as usual. I hadto resist the urge to plaster myself across the screen on several occasions. And for some reason, I really almost-lust after Minas Morgul. Don't ask me why. Minas Tirith was amazing as well, but I appear to have a thing for the dead city.

The scene where Frodo and Sam are sleeping on the ledge on the way up the stairs made me twitch. I really don't deal well with heights, not even CGI ones. Argh.

Pippin singing was the most amazing thing ever, and apparently that's actually Billy Boys singing. Holy fuck. From [livejournal.com profile] flabbergast on AIM, quoted from a message board she's on:

My favourite spoiler of all was from John Noble's talk. He worked with Billy very closely. He told us that Billy is just a lovely, lovely man, and was talking about a scene in which Denethor, being a sour old man, asks Pippin to sing for him. "And Billy starts singing this song, and he's got a beautiful voice, a high tenor voice, and this cute little face, and it was just the most beautiful thing. And I'm sitting here thinking "I'm supposed to be grumpy! How can I be grumpy after this?" There were tears running down my face!"

Just. Yes. Again with the crying.

Legolas and the stubborness of the Dwarves and awwww, SOINLOVE! <3

Aragorn firmly placed himself on top of my list of Coolest Kings Ever. I would follow that man to the end of the world. Especially after that scene where he jumps off the ship. So cool.

The bit where Sauron's soldiers catapult the heads of the Gondorians into the city? Whoever came up with that is a fucking genius. Fuck, but that's cruel. I love it.

When Denethor is flipping over Faramir's "death" and Gandalf hits him, some bloke in the audience yelled "Wooo!" I found that incredibly amusing.

Insert a page of "OMG SAM!" "Samwise the Brave, I want your babies!" and "Legolas/Gimli forever!" here.

And that, as they say, is that. I can't believe it's over.

It's not a message board I'm on, it was just some random message board I came across while googling. :P

And see, I was stopping myself from commenting until now, because I knew I'd just end up saying the exact. same. things once you've posted your RotK notes. Which is to say, Frodo and Sam are, indeed, OMGSOINLOVE! And I want Merry and Pippin of my VERY OWN!

The bit where Aragorn jumps off the ship? Coolest thing ever. Why can't real kings be Cool Like Aragorn? Huh? Why?

And in closing, I can't believe I don't have a Hobbit icon, because OMG HOBBITS!!!
