Basically, I decided I wanted my old/proper LJ back, with nearly 3 years of entries, but had to change the name to reset my friends-of list so as to get rid of the 50 or so LJs who had me friended and hadn't updated in more than a year. Sometimes, I'm neurotic. :)
rane_ab and possibly camillabloom. I don't know camillabloom well, since I just friended her a few days ago and haven't spoken to her yet. She has several Belgian communities on her members list. Both the ladies are into HP. I've also got several people from the Netherlands. Apparently Harry Potter is a more international fandom than TPM.
*nods* I've hears several people comment that Harry Potter is more LJ-based than Yahoogroup-based. There are mailing lists and stuff, but feedback and interpersonal contact originates from LJ, not the mailing lists.
That seems to be true for most fandoms that came into being after, say, 2001, though. Popslash was much the same, IIRC. (Also when it came to internationalness, which makes me think fandom in general is just becoming a lot more international these days. A good thing!)
Next Wednesday, yes. :) Unfortunately, I only have the one. (Well, three: one for each movie.) Bought them ith my UGC Unlimited card, and I can only buy tickets for myself on that. If you have a credit card, try the ugc web site; they might still have some left.
What day are you going exactly, and will you tolerate my presence ? ;-P I should probably take the next day off since the last movie starts at midnight so that means I'll get home around 4 AM the earliest... I don't think I can take up that offer, I haven't found it yet, but I could probably still get tickets for the three movies separately...
The marathon is only on Tuesday, so that's when I'm going. As for company, ... I'd have to get back to you on that. I don't usually deal well with meeting new people at occasions like this. :/
Oh, and keep in mind FotR starts at 4PM, so you may have to take the afternoon of the Tuesday off as well.
I understand, and I just saw that 4PM thing too. I own both the first and the second movie on DVD but yeah... Tease...
That sounded too good to pass on when you first posted it but after pondering about it for a while, it doesn't sound so great anymore.
Now you mention it, meeting at the movies is indeed not the best spot for people to get to know each other, better keep that to locations where opening your mouth to chat is actually tolerated, and where you won't be yelled at or molested by fellow viewers for not obying to silence.
