Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Countdown: 136 days
Random yesterday's TV news: Squeee! The one time I decide to tape CSI instead of just watching it, and it's the ep with Rodney Rowland. Dear TV executives: Give this boy Wooo! I seem to have good TV karma, lately. Cold Squad, too, just keeps getting better very day. Mmmmm, Peter Wingfield.
A funny thing happened to me on the way home yesterday. See, there's this porn cinema near the station, and I always have a quick look at the posters, because some day I plan to go in and watch one of the gay porn movies they're showing there, and confuse the fuck out of the other (presumably all male) viewers. Yesterday, I did a double take at the title of the current gay porn movie:
Ass Collector
... Right, then. Am I the only one who sees that title and has visions of shelves full of asses? It's a very disturbing image.
Came home yesterday, switched on my computer, and noticed the lights on my ADSL modem were both green. Tried calling myself from my cell phone, which worked, but outgoing calls didn't work yet, and I didn't have a new password for my ADSL connection yet, either. This morning, I could not only call out, but I also got the new password and username in the mail. Yaaaaaay! Online tonight! Wooo!
Still undecided on the leaving-or-staying issue. On the one hand, LJ is very convenient. On the other hand, I loathe the whole friends list politics. I mean, when I just got my LJ, I added everyone and their dog, and for a long time after that, I added everyone back if they added me back, and at my height, I was up to about 200+ friends. I think it was some time in the spring of last year when I cut my friends list down to 50-ish in two fell swoops. It felt really liberating. Ever since then, I've tried to keep it down to 50-60, and while that's taken care of a lot of aggravation, I sometimes feel guilty about not friending people back.
I do check for people who added me to their friends list, and I add people back if they seem interesting at first sight, and don't look like I'd do too much cutting. I also add people who leave me lots of interesting comments, sometimes. If I don't friend you back, it doesn't mean I dislike you or think you're boring or whatnot, it just means I only have so many hours in my day. I very very rarely post friends-only, and when I do, it's usually inner-circle only (wibbling and issues), or girls-only (complaining about my periods), so you're not really missing that much.
However, I also sometimes defriendslist people, and I always do so with a "nothing personal" disclaimer, which I know many people find cowardish, but which is just true as far as I'm converned. When I defriend someone, it doesn't mean I dislike them, or that I don't want to talk to them or hear from them, it just means I consistently skim their entries, and I don't like skimming my friends list. Sometimes, it also just means that a friendship has died out, and when that happens, I always seem to end up being the one to bite the bullet and just admit to that and make it "official", so to speak, and every fucking time that happens, I come out looking like the bad guy, like I broke off a friendship for no apparent reason, and I'm sick of that.
Part of this is probably that had that experience fairly recently, so I'm still upset about it, and when I'm upset I have a tendency to just turn my back on whatever's causing the upset. I'll probably think about this some more before I really decide. I'd hate to give up more than two years of journal, though. :/ I've more than a week left to decide, anyway.
Current topic on FCA-L: Fan Wars. I always love hearing about those, because man, are we a vicious bunch, or what? And once again, I want to write a report/essay/book on Fanfic/Fandom Wars Through The Ages, with lots of eye witness reports and stuff. Mmmmm, history of fandom ... (Can never deny my roots even in fandom. I'm an archivist and a chronicler at heart. I love writing things down for posteriority. Sigh.)
