I was thinking of buying something for your companion but I don't know what rats (or is it a hamster?) like for a play toy.

Ilsa's a rat, yes. And she seems to like playing with my fingers. (And by "playing with" I mean of course "bite".)

Ouch! *hehehe* Ahh... Pets. Is she an affectionate rat? I don't know much about rats but I've seen some rats that can't be seperated from their owner.

She's been shuffled around between people a lot, so she's a bit shy and agressive, I'm afraid. Oh, well.
