What? Mini!Euro!HPCon
Where? Antwerp, Belgium
When? 23 November 2002
Why? Because I need slashers to come and watch CoS with me!

That's right, for those of you who hadn't heard, I'm trying to organise a little slasher's party for CoS. The movie comes out over here on the 20th, so by Saturday, it'll be out in my local movie theatre as well. I can buy tickets beforehand to make sure we get in. The movie will be in English, subtitled in Dutch and French. (Yes, we have subtitles in two languages. No, that's not that confusing. ^_^)

I can put up about five or six people in my flat, possibly more, so there wouldn't be any hotel costs or anything, and we could be as loud as we want to be at night.

The (tentative) plan is to go to the early afternoon viewing, then go to my favourite Irish pub afterwards to have some drinks, squee over the slashiness, gossip about BNFs, discuss elaborate slash theories, and all those other things I always seem to end up doing when meeting slashers in real life, and then I was thinking we could go to the Aalmoezenier, which is my favourite club. ^_^

So, if you're European, and you'd like to come hang out with slashers and watch CoS with them, come on over.

If you're planning to come, even if it's just tentative, please let me know so I can plan to take that Friday and monday off?

This has nothing to do with your post, but I think your HP improv tool is having some problems. I selected "m/m" and got Molly Weasley/Bletchley (?). Uh.

(Mimph, I wish I could come.)

Re:

Er, yes, I think I accidentally classified Molly as a bloke. Whoops.

I'm still working on making a version where you can select the "generation" as well, btw.

Not looking too good right now, but final decision still pending. (Meaning, don't plan for me yet, but I'll let you know if the situation changes to allow me to come.)(When's the deadline for letting you know?)

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re:

No real deadline, unless I end up getting definite confirmation from enough peoplee to actually fill my flat, but I don't think so, so if you decide on the 22nd you want to come, that's fine. I'm just trying to get a general idea, here. :)

I want to come but I don't think I can afford it. :(

Re:

Hm, isn't Eurostar doing a promotion thingie? I can see what I can find in the way of cheap travel, if you'd like. ^_^

From: [identity profile] usual.livejournal.com

That would be great. I hope so. If I just save and save and save until then...

Re:

Ryanair would be £64.00 pounds. Hrm. I'll have another look ...

From: [identity profile] jintro.livejournal.com

Can I come too? I heard it's not that far from where I live.   :p

[BTW, Thursday night there's a Halloween Party at Den Aalmoezenier (http://www.denaalmoezenier.com/Kalender.asp).  *g*]

Re:

Well, I was gonna make it a girls's weekend out, I'm afraid.

Whee! Halloween! Should I start thinking up a costume?

Squeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!

You live in Antwerp?

Squeee!

I've finally found someone from Belgium! Ah, and a slasher too! *grin*

Unfortunately *sniff* I can't come to the HP fest since :

1. Telling my mom I have to get to Antwerp to go into a hotel room with a bunch of women I've never met before is out of the question. (I'm young, I'm allowed to still live at home!)
2. I try to keep fannish activities strictly online and not in my personal, real life world.
3. Meeting fellow slash fans for real would give me a heart attack.
4. I'm totally not familiar with HP. My main fandom would be TPM.

Oh, BTW, I live at the coast, Somewhere between Oostende and De Panne.

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re:

Oh, cool, another Flemish slasher! =D

Hey, it wouldn't be a hotel room, it'd be my humble abopde. ^_^ But yeah, I don't think any TPM slashers are gonna be there (no, wait, I think Lido is a TPMer), so most of our meta-babbling will be weird to you as well.

How old are you, out of curiosity?

From: [identity profile] pelicanzed.livejournal.com

Alas, I don't think I can come anymore. I have very little money, am meant to be saving up to go to New Zealand and am meant to be doing rock society stoof.

Re:

Hey, it wouldn't be a hotel room, it'd be my humble abopde. ^_^

Oops. Word slip. I guess I just needed a hotel room with all the noise going around me at the time I wrote it.

But yeah, I don't think any TPM slashers are gonna be there (no, wait, I think Lido is a TPMer),

Lido? I haven't heard of her yet. It could be off course, since I'm not a writer, that I'm circulating in the same space as she is.
Hug her for me when you see her?

How old are you, out of curiosity?

21. *sigh*

Re:

Awwww. :( Damn, I really wanted to meet up again, too. It's been ages.

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re:

[livejournal.com profile] lido_kitty, who is from France. ^_^

Hey, cool, someone who isn't that much younger than me. :D

From: [identity profile] pelicanzed.livejournal.com

Re:

Yeah, twould be highly cool to see you too, but due to two long summers of supporting myself, while unemployed and without benefits, my financial situation is looking too dire to get to Belgium any time soon. Maybe in early August though, I could see you then head on to Eurorock?

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re:

Who's coming to Eurorock? I might decide to go with you. (Still looking for company?)

From: [identity profile] pelicanzed.livejournal.com

Re:

Not sure yet. Anna The Goth and Darren will most likely go, but I'm not yet certain about anyone else I know. Will let you know closer to the time, but your company would be appreciated whatever the circumstances. We could drool over expensive clothes and squee over pretty affectionate cross-dressing gaygothbois.

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re:

Oooh, sounds great. So are there going to be any bands there that I know and/or (would) like?

From: [identity profile] sileas.livejournal.com

Re:

Hehe! Another French!

*giggle*
Do old ladies ask you too what you'll do after highschool? People always suspect I'm 18 or less.

If I run around with my nephew in tow, people start gasping/staring and I suspect they are calculating at what age I conceived my 'kid'.

From: [identity profile] pelicanzed.livejournal.com

Re:

I don't know yet. Chances are, there'll be some 80s or metal band you've heard of, and some songs that'll be familiar to you from Slimelight. In general, the music is similar to Slimelight's, but more diverse. In any case, if you are interested in going, I'll make you a compilation of some of the songs that will be played, once I know who the bands are.

btw, do you have a tent? As I don't. I can probably borrow one, though.

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re:

Ha! No, thankfully, I've always looked older than I actually am, and between 17 and 21, I looked exactly my age. Which was a nice change. (Okay, technically, I still am 21, but I look older again now, thanks to my newly-black hair.)

My brothers are too young to have kids yet, thank god, and they're too old to be mistaked for my sons. I am, however, going to have a baby cousin soon(ish), so I expect things like that to start happening, yes.

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re:

Two tents, even, and ones that are easy to setup, too. The perks of having a dad who likes hiking. ^_^

Oooh, compilation! That would rock!

From: [identity profile] pelicanzed.livejournal.com

Re:

Good good!

Yeah, I've been meaning to burn a CD called "Melle's Guide To Slimelight" for . . . maybe a year? But this will give me an incentive to get on with it.

From: [identity profile] sileas.livejournal.com

Re:

Cool. Before you know it, you'll have a cousin coming over to play with you and the computer games you've got.
Every seen a seven-year-old playing Quake against a 21-year-old and actually winning? He's got the most biggest awful smirk I've ever seen. And he does "Nananana" like a pro.
And I just can't believe he's the same as that little kid who loved to pee on me when we went down the slide. (haven't forgiven him yet!)

So you have multiple brothers? *wince*
I have an older brother who hasn't figured out how to cook an egg.
And I have a sister that does know how to make and egg, but then forgets to eat it.

And I'm suppose to work on a paper now.And I don't wanna!

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re:

Yeah, I've got a plethora of cousins on my dad's side of the family, but I hardly ever see them, and they're almost all older than I anyway. So this ought to be fun. ^___^

And I just can't believe he's the same as that little kid who loved to pee on me when we went down the slide.

Heh. My eldest brother did that to me once.

So you have multiple brothers? *wince*

Nah, they're not bad. Well, they're not bad now that i don't have to live with them anymore. (They're 19 and 14, so they still live at home.) And we were all taught how to cook -- and how to do basic things like change a tyre on our bikes and stuff. ^___^

Go work on your paper!

From: [identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com

Re:

Ooooh, much coolness! I'll look forward to the CD. ^__^

From: [identity profile] sileas.livejournal.com

Re:

Heh. My eldest brother did that to me once.
Ewwww. That's even worse.

Well, they're not bad now that i don't have to live with them anymore.

*nods* That's my main gripe with my brother. He just doesn't leave home although he complains endlessly of how bad it is!
Luckily I'm away a lot during the week, but it's holiday so I'm stuck with both brother and nephew for a whole week. And I need to study and work...

And we were all taught how to cook

Dang. My brother and sister were way to spoiled to have ever needed to cook for themselves.

Go work on your paper!

Uhm... No. Or maybe... that could be a handy way for not having to endure my nephew trying to tackle me from above the couch.
