And then the wallpaper on the ceiling tore and there was water everywhere. Why ME?
*flops* It's taken me an hour and a half, but the lounge is clean and dry again, and mostly rearranged so that as much as possible is out of harm's way in case the ceiling decides to belatedly come down. The kitchen's still a bit of a mess, but that's mostly nothing to do with the leak, and I have at least one load of laundry to do, but that'll wait until after dantesvendetta's visit. Overall, not bad, though not exactly how I'd prefer to spend a sick day. :/
In terms of permanent damage, I came off lucky, it seems. Some of my books got splashed when the "bubble" burst, and my desk is looking somewhat worse for wear, but thanks to whatever deity looks after insomniacs, I woke up just as it was starting to drip, and managed to save my computer and stuff, and haul the chairs and table mostly out of the way. As miserable as I was last night, it would've been a lot worse had I not been awake for it, because the big splash of water when the "bubble" burst was right where my computer would've been. Yeah. The panicked "OH FUCK!" all-hands-on-deck scrambling and the visions of having to replace my computer barely a day after buying it, when I saw the trickling leak was bad enough, thanks. I took pictures for my landlady, for insurance purposes, some of which you can see here.
So now I go and clean the kitchen, stack the crap I had to move to my bedroom somewhat better, and start preparing dinner. Mags, I'm looking forward to that cake you promised!
[ETA] Hm, I stand corrected, it looks like the (laminatre) floor's taken some minor damage as well, which I suppose is partially my fault for not mopping up before going to bed last night, but it's not that bad--the only reason I even noticed was because I was standing on it in bare feet and felt the slightly raised seams. Still, should remember to tell the owners that.
Also, dear iTunes: I know I put you on shuffle, but Johnny Cash followed by Kate Bush is a bit too random, even for me. [/ETA]
