So, as soon as I get paid (which is officially tomorrow but is usually on the fourteenth for me, except apparently today, sigh), I'm going to the Local Computer Shop to get either a SCSI card or a SCSI-to-USB converter (whichever is cheaper), at which point I shall have a functional scanner and no one will be safe from my crappy doodles anymore, muahahaha!

More importantly, I'll also be asking advice/prices to see how much a new motherboard (et al.) would set me back. My computer is a decrepit old piece of shite at this point, and I can't really upgrade it, because the RAM slots refuse to recognise anything but the original (128MB) stick. So I looked into getting a whole new computer, and concluded that I'm not paying for a new HD, Windows, and RAM when I already have a relatively new (just over a year) 120GB HD, a copy of Windows, and at least a stick of 512MB RAM lying around anyway, not to mention assorted cards and stuff--soundcard, USB2 card, network card, graphics card that won't fit in my current computer but is perfectly good and new, plus of course the DVD and CR-R drives. etc. So, yes.

I'm not entirely sure what all I need to buy new (motherboard, processor, and probably a case), what's not worth salvaging from the old one (power ... thingie, whatever that is in the back? not sure if I can actually get that out of the old case at this point, to be honest), and how difficult it would be to put it all together. I'm probably good with the drives, HD and cards, as I've done those before, but depending on the price difference, I might ask the pros to put the processor/fan/motherboard together and in the case, because I'm a veritable conductor for static electricity, and I don't want to risk frying anything.

(I also need a new mouse and keyboard, and possibly one of those protective thingies to cover my keyboard, though now that I have the new desk, I don't eat directly over my keyboard most of the time, so maybe that'll help cut down on the gunk.)

In other computer-y news, if this logging programme doesn't stop being slower than a sloth on a snow day, I may be forced to take drastic measures. Like, say, get more coffee. *mutter, grumble, etc.*
