So gran, as grandmothers are wont to do, insists on buying me stuff. Lots of stuff. Since I own pretty much every material thing I need (except for a better computer, which I feel would be a bit much to ask for), I hate clothes shopping, and I prefer to buy my own books, that leaves food. And now, yarn. Lots of yarn. Random yarn. And needles, and assorted stuff. I now own a huge ball (skein?) of dark teal yarn. Not enough for a jumper, and they only had the one, but still, pretty! And a £0.50 random leftover ball of rainbow yarn, and black yarn and double pointed needles for gloves, and tomorrow we're going shopping for yarn for the HP scarves (BRONZE YARN YOU CANNOT ESCAPE ME FOREVER!) and for my Weasley jumper, and I plan to latch onto any prettu-looking cheapish yarn she'll buy me and stock up for a while.

... Which, um, means I'll need new ideas and patterns and stuff. Right now, my main problem is that I really don't have that many clothes, and I don't want that many clothes, and I don't need more than one scarf and hat, and a pair of gloves, and there's only so many socks I can knit and/or scarves I can make you lot and/or pullovers I can force onto my brothers and whatnot.

All of which is my roundabout way of asking for knitting community recommendations. Something fannish-raleted would be nice, and if anyone knows of a good place to find things to knit that could be used for LARPing, I'd love that.

[ETA]Hm, yay or nay??[/ETA]

So, today's haul:

  • Red and golden-yellow yarn for two Gryffindor scarves;
  • Assorted knitting tools;
  • Two second-hand pullovers to frog and recycle the yarn (nice yarn, but both are too big for me);
  • Body shop stuff (facial mask, facial scrub, and mascara as I've managed to misplace my other tube in the cleaning spree somewhere.

And gran found a fabulous reversed labm coat for only £12. I'd have fought her for it except it's crem-coloured, and Melle plus light clothes equals disaster.

Pictures of the hat and all the yarn and stuff forthcoming, for those of you who care.

Ack! My grandmother has decided to take an interest in the internet, by which I mean she'll occasionally ask to see what I'm doing online. And of course, she's somehow developed the uncanny ability to ask this when I'm right in the middle of a really hot,mildly kinky gay porn story.

So, erm, to help me recover from the multiple heart attacks I've survived today, anyone want to rec me some House slash? I'm partial to both House/Wilson and House/Chase, but I'll read anything that's good.
