A list, because I can't really think coherently today and if I tried I'd end up wielding an ice pick at random passers-by, and that just won't do:
- Was thinking about HP, thoughts/essays thereon, theories thereof, etc. and realised that I don't tend to think about the HP universe from a fanfic/slash writer's point of view. I'm not looking to find bunnies, or ways to flesh out said bunnies, or canon to work from or incorporate it into a story or whatnot, I'm not even thinking about "the Harry Potter books", because I prefer not to acknowledge the woman behind the curtain too much, but about the world Harry Potter and his friends and enemies live in, as if it were ... well, almost like I'm talking about, say, politics or something, with sociology and psychology thrown in for good measure. I'm not sure what my point was, there.
- On a related note, HP is the fandom that made me want to (be able to?) write fanfic that was more than "classic slash" (i.e. "UST, resolution of UST, happy ending") and more about the characters and their relationship to each other (rather than whether or not they get together), to others, and to the world in general. Also, plot.
- Harry is a conservative. Although I'd have to re-read the fountain scene in OP to know if he's going to remain one or not.
- Not enforcing age limits on slash lists, underaged slash, RPS, incest, etc.: Lines I've crossed, which according to some would make me stupid, immoral, or both, and in almost all cases I crossed them almost without knowing, only later looking back and realising that hey, yeah, I've crossed that line, and rather far, too.
