New York, day one. The flight over here was okay, but rather disappointing for me. Somehow, I'd imagined a Boeing 767 to be a bit bigger. I wish it would've been, because god, there's little leg space in economy class. But on the upside, I wasn't afraid at all. On the other hand, when we were landing, my left ear was really really painful, and in my effort to chew the pain away, I pulled out the brand new filling in my upper tooth, plus a large part of the rest of the tooth. There's so little left I doubt it can be rebuilt.

Luckily, it doesn't hurt. Even more luckily, we have insurance, so I could get it fixed if I ant to. I don't want to yet, because I don't really trust strange dentists, but the roots are still there and I don't want to risk ruining any chance I might still have to save this tooth.

Anyway. NY. Next time I make a big trip, someone remind me that a 3-hour walk after being origami-ed for 7 hours is a bad idea, mkay? My knees and I are apparently not on speaking terms anymore. Ow.

I have seen Central Park. I have seen the NYPD. I have boggled over various weird American customs. I have judged American McD's. (Ew.)

The phrase of the day is:

It's the law.

Seriously. Don't you people ever do something just because you're asked? Do you need a law to be invoked?

Anyway, I leave you with two pictures of Belgians In New York:

it's steveman, saviour of the erm ... geeky?

me in my lara croft shorts. *some* new yorkers liked them alot. :D

New York, day two. Forgot to mention this yesterday, but apparetly the two beds symbol does not mean two beds, but a double bed. Which Steve hogs. Bitch. I woke up approximately 36 times tonight. My back did not agree this morning. Augh! How does one tame a rebellious body?

Anyway. Trudged all over the Museum of Natural History for about 6 hours. Very, very cool. Then, thanks to mr Van Boven's terrific sense of direction, we walked 10 blocks in one direction and then 11 in the other to get to a Blimpie's. But it was worth it; Blimpie's has good food.

Then we spent 3-4 hours (and over $40, in my case) at Barnes and Nobles. I bought:

  • Quidditch Through the Ages and Fantastic Beasts by J.K. Rowling (Souvenir for my youngest brother.)
  • The Elements of Style by Strun and ZWhite (Aka The Gammar Sith Handbook.)
  • A Time of Exile by Katherine Kerr (I've read and enjoyed the series this is a seauel to; see my recc's page.)
  • Setting Them Straight - You Can Do Something About Bigotry and Homophobia in Your Life
  • Some protective book covers.
I did not buy:
  • Any of the Eminem picture books, not even the one with the guh-licious picture of him and Dre.
  • Any of the NSync books.
  • Any of the Dylan books.
  • Any of the gay erotica books.
I also did not buy this book:

it was about lsbian killers

I don't know what MNN is, but they just showed Megadeth (multiple Dave Mustaines!) and now GnR (semi-nake Al Rose!) so they rock.

Concert tomorrow! But first: food.
