Am I the only person in the entire LJ-owning world who a) uses their 'friends' page as a convenient place to read all the LJs of people I know and b) reads every LJ of anyone [s]he even remotely knows, simply because of voyeuristic tendencies? Does everyone else really shun the journals of people they dislike, let alone hate?

One would think so. Several times now have people complained and wondered why on earth I should have them on my friends list. One person even called me presumptuous for it.

Well, folks, here's some news for you:
One: I don't need your permission to read your [public] journal. If you don't want people reading it, make it private, or friends-only, or whatnot. It isn't that hard, I swear.
Two: I read everybody and their dog's journal. Just because it's called a 'friends page' doesn't mean I consider you my friends. And I prefer to keep an eye on the journals of people I know, even and especially of those I don't like. Keep your 'enemies' close and all that.

That is all. Carry on, carry on.

LOL! No, you're not the only one. I keep tabs on folk I want to know what they're doing. Not all of them are strictly friends. ^_^

Aha! I knew I wasn't the only one who did that! You have interesting friends, by the way.

Y'know, I did feel halfway guilty about reading journals from people I didn't know. I wouldn't put them on my list, because I didn't wanna look scary or stalker.

Your comments just made me feel better. And I personally *like* it when someone random puts me on their friends list. Means another person who's probably interesting to check out.

Some of the ones on my friends list aren't friends in any way at all. :/ Used to be, though. That's the sad thing.

Stalker shmalker. As long as you don't make scary comments or anything, I see no reason why you should feel that way.

And yeah, me too! I love checking my friends listing and finding a lot of red arrows tere. New people to get to know! :D

No, you're not. While I rarely just seek out people to add to my friends list (because I'm lazy), a bunch of really cool people have added me, and while at first I thought it was kinda weird, I got over it, added them to my friends list, and, whaddaya know, for the most part, they've all turned out to be tres awesome people. I'll be the last person in the world to complain or question why someone has me on their friends list. Because, really, it's pretty neat :)

I sometimes go on sprees where I check my friends' friends pages and add anyone who sounds interesting to mine. Or I see who's interested in, say, 'camp' and see if they're cool.

I love being added to strangers' friends lists! More people to get to know!

Yeah, I've done that. It surprises me, the amount of wackos that have the same, obscure, weird-ass interests that I do.
