Can I just note that people who deliberately and purposefully spoil people, especially before the damn book is even officially out, are assholes of the first degree who should be locked in a room with capslock!Harry for a few days? Right. Gah. (No, I wasn't spoiled, but others have been. Beware the spoilers, folks!

i gotta admit, i searched out the spoilers myself, just once, largely because i just don't feel the love and excitement for the books the way i did. (i lose interest too quickly for something that takes so long to be released; this is possibly a character flaw.)

but now i'm kinda excited. :D i'm bumming a copy off a friend when she's done.

See, spoiling people who want to be spoiled is, obviously, no big deal, and I understand sometimes accidental spoilers happen. But this is someone who posted a scanned page from HBP, with a huge spoiler underlined in red, on a whole bunch of comms, without a tag, and just. WHY? How is that even FUNNY?

Exactly. Apparently, being annoyed by spoilerphobes (and I admit some of "us" can go too far the other way too, but still) is apparently a good enough reason to be a total arsehole. WTF, man. I don't expect the internets to stay spoiler-free forever, but I don't think it's asking too much to expect people to cut spoilers at least UNTIL THE GODDAMNED BOOK ACTUALLY COMES OUT!

I know someone who works for Waterstones (in distribution rather than in a bookshop), and the security around the books is apparently insane. No cameras, no mobile phones (because of cameras), and they're subject to being searched on their way out in case they've hidden it under their hat, or something.

Having said that, it's possible that someone got their copy a day early legitimately. These things happen.

She just pretended not to be home. :D She's been good about spoilers, though, which is more than I can say about some people. Honestly, is it really too much to ask that people not spoil others, especially not deliberately, until the book is actually out? Oi. Some people's children ...

Well, you have to allow for the fact that people are idiots. Usually they're not maliciously idiotic, but sometimes it seems like they just can't help themselves.

Ah, people. Just think: once we perfect molecular nanotechnology, we'll be able to drown most of them. This is the thought that keeps me going some days. ;o)

I didn't see the pictures other people have talked about, I saw a huge scrolling text that made absolutely no sense, so I hope what I saw was a hoax, as there was no way I could not see what it said by just accidentally glancing at it.
