Yo

WTF? I concur with Ang. your badge of coolness is revoked. Here, have a "Big Fat Hypocrite" one instead.

(Oh and incidentally, it is entirely possible to be biologically female, male-gendered, and yet not rag on women, you know. Just a thought. If you don't believe me, there's this mate of mine you ought to meet.)

Absolutely no love whatsoever,
Melle

See, I'd read that article before, though I'm not sure where or when, and it never occurred to me to be offended by it. Think about it. The very first bit of slash I read was a very bad ST:TNG fic that I stumbled upon. The next ten or so stories I read were also very bad. If I hadn't been 13, and I'd actually realized that they were bad, I probably would have branded all slash as bad writing and moved back to het.

She hasn't read much slash. I'm betting that what she has read were of average ff.net quality. And having that impression of slash fiction, I wouldn't want anything I'd written to be labelled as "slash" either. She probably isn't aware that people think of the definition of "slash" in such broad terms, and she may not even know that RPS exists (and since both of her slash stories were RPS...)

As for her gender issues, well. She doesn't like being a woman, she doesn't feel like a woman, and she wants everyone and their mother to know it. She gets that across by being as derivative toward females as she can be without alienating the majority of her audience. It's not cool, and it's really very childish, but. She's got issues.

Yeah, one of my best friends is FTM transgendered, so I do know about these things, and that's why it ticks me off. It reminds me of these slash stories where the boys suddenly start slagging off women to "justify" being with a guy. It makes no sense to me.
