(no subject)

So [livejournal.com profile] deepsix has now read The Archer, and tested out as being Karl. This of course means that I can now sit behind my computer and do the thinking and then send her and [livejournal.com profile] megolas to go kill people with pincones and/or blow shit up for me. Muahahahahahaha!

I took the quiz before I started reading and got Sean. So, from the chapter and a half that I've read, I think that makes you all my bitches. :)

Heh. Don't count on anything. >-)

Have you read more yet? Cause ... not entirely. *evil grin*

Also, Katie, meet [livejournal.com profile] ruby_fruit, our Orlando. Amy, this is Katie. I expect you two should get on well. :D

Hahaha! From what I've read, yeeeees Sean and Orlando get on well. :D I'm on chapter 4, but I cheated and skimmed the last chapter that was written too (37, I think). Not that it helped, I'm still confused. ;)

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-02-02 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh, you have SO much left to learn. Read on, read on! And tell me who you think the Archer is!

...isn't it Viggo? That's the gist I got from skimming the last chapter.

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-02-02 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
See, this is why you shouldn't cheat!

Heh. Yes, but now I can read the story with that knowledge, so it will make more sense than if I had no clue.

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-02-02 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
But the whole fun is to read it without foreknowledge (is that a word?) and take notes to support your theories and possibly draw diagrams and make spreadsheets-- Er, not that I've ever done that or anything. Anyway! The fun is to read it "cold" first and then go back and re-read once you know and get that experience of small things falling into place.

Though frankly, a LOT of things are still left unexplained. Hence my addiction. :D

See, my problem is that I can't do that. If a story is a mystery, I can't read it unless I have a basic idea of how it ends, because the act of taking notes and making spreadsheets and coming up with theories takes away from being able to just sit back and enjoy the story. I like knowing who the killer/bad guy/whatever is, so that when people start mysteriously dying or getting murdered or whatever, I can let things fall into place then.

Plus, this way, I only have to read the story once. At 37 chapters, with god only knows how many more to come - and that's if the story even gets finished, because who knows, the author may get tired of writing and not finish it - there's no way I can read the story more than once. I don't have that kind of time! And it's no fun when you already know what's going to happen anyway. If there are still things left unanswered, I might have to stop reading before I get too involved. I've gotten burned far too many times on unfinished WIPs that never finish the story and leave things unanswered.

In that case, you may want to stop reading until the whole thing is finished, because a LOT of things are still not in place even though we know who the Archer is.

Though I don't think she'll stop before the end. She has a good track record, apparently, and she *is* planning things out as far as plot goes, so she'll not write herself into a corner, at least.

*wibbles* Maybe I'll just read it slowly. Because it seems like a good story so far, and if so many people like it, it must be good. Maybe it'll be close to being done by the time I get to the end. *squirms*

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-02-02 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, she seems to be updating it every three days at slowest, so if you read slowly, you'll likely not catch up with her before she finishes. I think. OTOH, Even once you know who the Archer is, the rest is still a twisty web of twistiness with turns around every corner and stuff. So.

Oh wow. I wasn't checking dates, so I assumed this was being posted weeks apart at a time. Well, it's taken me the better part of this week to get through three and a half chapters, so I think I'll just keep going and hope that it'll be okay. There may be more skipping to the end before I'm done. ;)

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-02-02 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup. There's a lot of things that happen in the first few chapters that still aren't explained, as well as general things, but I don't think you'll actually start to be bothered by that until at least after chapter 20 or so, so by then there may have been a whole set of revelations. Plus, often you don't even start wondering about something until something else is revealed in the first place, if that makes sense. Basically, read on, and if you really need to know something, ask me and I'll tell you, if I know. :)

Excellent. :) Sounds like a plan. :D :D

[identity profile] deepsix.livejournal.com 2005-02-02 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
You know I'd do it, too. WITH A PINECONE!!!

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-02-02 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm so amused, man, I accurately predicted who both the people I got into this were going to turn out to be. And hey! We now have an Orlando, so all we need is a Viggo and we're all set! :D

[identity profile] deepsix.livejournal.com 2005-02-03 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think we know anyone smrt enough to be Viggo. ;D
