I just realised that ... I think about half my friends page, probably more, is younger than I am. There was a time when I didn't know any slashers younger than I.

This random realisation brought to you by Caffeine, Inc and the letters B-O-R-E-D.

God, I know. I mean, to me, 16-18 is average age, mostly cause that's how old I was when I got into this whole thing. but 13-15 is. Eeek? Not bad mind you, because I certainly don't censor myself around "children", but still kind of baffling.

I thought about it. Because there's someone on my friends list who friends-filter-locks all of her posts that have to do with slash, etc, because the people are "under age" ... I don't want to bother. I mean, it's not worth it to me. Plus, the "underagers" on my list are into slash anyway.

But, I have to admit that when I was 13-15, I had no idea what slash was. In fact, I didn't really know until 2000. Not that I hadn't read it before. Because, I read a lot of cyberpunk science fiction and if it's sex, it's been done in one of those books.

But. I guess that's thanks to the 'net. Slash: get 'em while they're young. Or something.

Yeah, see, I was reading de Sade at age 14, and the smutty bits of Stephen King novels before that, so I don't think slash talk is necessarily bad for young people to be exposed to, y'know?

I do know. I think that people *should* be exposed to smut!fic. Slash and het. Because, while sex isn't all that like fiction, it certainly can help young readers become comfortable with sexuality.

Maybe then we'd be spared all the hidious Mary Sue stories depecting some poor girl's idea of "good sex".

Hah! What, you don't want people to think that sex is well, Mary Sue? *shudder*
