Question for the Brits in the audience

Would any of you happen to recall whether the summers of 1991, 1992 and/or 1993 were one of those long hot summers I remember from the early nineties?

I don't really recall 91 - it rained a lot in Cornwall in June, but 10th August was nice. I spent a lot of 92 in France (where it was humid and rained quite a bit). 93, though, I seem to remember being fairly hot (though I was in Portugal for part of it - how spoiled am I?) The hottest summer ever, though (least rain for 200 years) was in 1995.

Dammit. I need it to have been hot in June of 1991 or 1992. Grmpf. Ta, anyway.

The HP snippet I just posted? Trying to make that into a story, but Terence wasn't on the team anymore in 1993, and it's not likely either Marcus or Oliver were Captains before 1991. Hrm.

Oh, I see. The thing is, Hogwarts is in Scotland and chances of the weather being nice there at any time of year are kind of low. But if it's in the depth of forest, as is suggested, then I can imagine it would get quite humid in summer, and it's only heat you need, right, not sunshine?

There really should be olde news and weather archives on the net. I've been trying to research the 1983 teacher's strike for a story I'm writing set then, and It Doesn't Bleeping Tell Me!

Apparently, my recollectoin was correct, and the 1992 summer was one of those hot ones. I'd have preferred 1991, but 1992 works, too. Ta!

Summer of 92 was one of the hottest Europe had in years. I was there. Germany was a hot house. 85 - 90 degrees was the norm and not the exception! And it was very humid too as I recall.

Ha! See, I knew the summer before my first year of HS was one of those hot ones. Thanks!

I can tell you that 1992 was extremely wet and miserable in my part off the country but it may have been nice everywhere else!

Hm, I'm pretty sure it was one of those hot, sweltering summers over here. The real questoin is: what was the weather like in Scotland? Gnar.
