So. I had a good time. Boggled at how tall some of these 'little boys' had become. Swam a lot. [My poor acking shoulders!] Spent all evening lying on a bunch of matresses, snoozling in my sleeping bag, watching tv. Informed B. that "There is more to sex between two men than anal intercourse, you know." Would have gone into details, but there were small-ish children present.

Am now back, and seriously planning to get out of *NSync fandom altogether. I don't need another fandom in which disagreement is frowned upon mightily. So not ready for that yet. Just gonna say this:

Yo! People! Helen! I am 'on Ruth's side' in this discussion, okay? She said exactly what I was trying to say, namely that you're writing RPS, and denying it makes you seem cowardish and more than slightly juvenile. Also, nobody ever said Metalica or Ben Affleck slash is 'better' than boysband slash. We're just saying, it's all RPS. It's all the same level of 'wrongness'.

Accept it.

So are you guys pissed at me for semi-taking Helen's side? Actually, it's not so much that I have anything for or against Helen in particular (never met her), or NSync slash as a genre (wouldn't know those guys if they jumped out of my soup, except for the pics of them I've seen in Ang's journal), but it just seems like there are more deserving people to get pissed off at than her. I mean, as far as I could tell she wasn't being judgemental about RPS, and if we get all snarky with our quasi-compadres, all it does is make them less inclined to sympathize with us. Yeah, christ knows I haven't always been very good about this myself, but at least I'm trying. Or maybe I'm just totally talking out of my ass, since I'm not involved in NSync fandom, and don't know what's gone on before now that might have pushed everybody over the edge. Blah, blah blah...

It's not the fact that she's 'against' RPS that bothers me, it's that she doesn't seem t understand our point at. all. and that practically bit Ruth's head off and put words in her mouth that she never even vagualy implied.

Also, see my next entry for my reasons for sticking to my guns about this. :/
