"Why aren't fictional characters enough for these writers?"

Ge, honey, perhaps because we get inspired by characters that aren't fictional? No, of copurse not, we purposely go out to look for Real People to write about. Fuckers.

"Why isn't minding one's own fucking business enough for braindead busybody fanfic police?"

*snerk*

If I had a quotes page, I would totally quote that.

Rest assured, it has been quoted. :)

It's actually gotten better over the year or two that RPS has been really coming to the forefront. They've mostly stopped the "These Things Should Be Kept Private" diatribe, for example.

But they're still incredibly looking down on us, because we're just stalkers and delusionals who see slashyness in charcaters and apply it to the actors (hello? musicianslash, anyone?) and argh!

Luckily, from where i'm standing, it seems to be mostly the "old school" slashers. Most of the younger generation (and the non-old schoolers of the previous "generations") have a more "whatever" attitude.

That's really my big hope. That in five or ten years, RPF will be as accepted within fandom as it is outside of it. I really think the people who're coming into fandom now will have it easier writing RPS, and the next generations will have it easier still. I guess it was just my bad luck that my "generation" was one of the first to really bring RPS into the open, to not be ashamed of it.
