For some reason, most of the LJ!celebs have ceased to be amusing. I think it's the whole 'live action' thing. I liked it better when they were 'pretending' it was an actual journal. You know? And LJ!Bono and LJ!Bowie pissed me off, too, with their fake Britishness. For fuck's sake, people, if you're gonna insist on playing a British celebrity, could you at least try to sound kind of vaguely British? I've seen Americans write Brit-based fandoms and pull it off, so it can be done. Just do a little research or something.

I guess since it's all slashers posing as LJ celebs, they're used to writing American characters, so it's hard to get into a European mindset.
*sends Bono a copy of The Barrytown Trilogy for research purposes*

My first experience in writing fanfic personally was writing fic for The Tomorrow People. I don't still have any of it, more's the pity...I'd like to see how well I caught the British and Scottish speech as a child. (The speech patterns I probably did fairly well, though the slang would have been off.)
Re:
And, um, there's plenty of Brit fandoms, yo! (Dammit, we can adjust to different speech patterns, so should you! :p) It's less a matter of "Dammit, stop massacring my language," and more of a "Dammit, don't play a character if you can't emulate their speech patterns!" I was rather annoyed with LJ!Eminem, as well.
(Um. Did I just refer to Brit English as "my language"? Ack. Self, you are not British. Gr.)
Barrytown Trilogy? o_O?
