As for the U2 story ...
So. This bloke. He's North-Irish, nice, and the geekiest geek that geekdom ever spawned. Also very gay. Like, Grace-Jones-adoring, flaming gay.(Steve -- think Irish version of Tom Lanoye, lookalike and all, escept flamier.)
So. He used to work in this record shop in Belfast as a student. This was the early Eighties. On the day The Joshua Tree was released, they opened at midnight so as to be able to satisfy rabid fen as early as possible. For the occasion, everyone dressed in pajama's.
"Everyone" included U2 themselves, who'd been rehearsing in studio's nearby.
Get this, people: U2. In. Pajama's. In public. Gah!
Slumber part-tay ahoy!
