People have been sacked at our employer for trying that. You'd need to do it all on your own time, outside of company premises, not using any company resources (no posters or email).

On the other hand, if you can get half the people in the building to join a union, they have no choice but to recognise it.

I really don't want to work for our employer for any serious length of time. Even Widows had unions - they recognised that it keeps them honest. The only reason to oppose unionisation is if the employer plans to not be honest.

Yeah, I'm applying for new jobs here and there myself. I mean, I can join an existing union, but they really are very American in their attitudes towards unions especially. :/

I'm not applying for jobs yet - I want to stick tech for at least a year before I look for something better. But I'm not interested in building a career there (going down the supervisor -> manager road).

If I'm lucky, maybe this application development stuff will work out and I can go freelance for a while and do much of my work in my underwear. :oD
