ARGH! I'm trying to get MySQL and this automatic form generator to behave properly and let me create a submission form for Mistletoe Magic, but no dice. *glares at it* I will be victorious!

This scarf continues to vex me as well, despite having switched to a 12cm size 4 circ. I think i might know what's going on, but I'll need to cast on again to know for sure. Gah.

I'm just so not having my week.

*cookie*?

Also, Liefeld gets dissed by his peers. And that's always a happy thing.

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 09:58 am (UTC)(link)
Cookies are love.

Liefeld-dissing is always a good thing! Especially when done by the pros, heee!

(Randomly: Have decide Detective Bloke is called Mike. Yes or no?)

[identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 10:08 am (UTC)(link)
*nodnod*

Yes! And it was clever, too! I cackle in evil amusement.

(Good detective name, I like it.)

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
As do I! Poking Liefeld with metaphorical sticks is fun! (I bet the C&DP artists and writers have a contest to see who can poke him the most. Hee.)

[identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 10:16 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! Almost as fun as poking Jean-Paul with sticks, only with less gay. (Hee! Prizes awarded by what colors you can make him turn?)

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 10:21 am (UTC)(link)
But with more sexuality issues. :D

(Bonus points if you make him hide under his bed and/or cry like a little girl. (Little Girls Of The World: "Hey! We resent that!"))

[identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 10:25 am (UTC)(link)
Oh God yes. *shudder*

(Ahahaha!)

BTW, still can't think if any mythological beasties who are particular to shinies except dragons, some versions of goblins, and dwarves. And corvids, in folklore.

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 10:28 am (UTC)(link)
DP: "I refuse to believe I came out of that guy's head."

Hm, but the dwarves would be jewellers, and I'm not sure I can see dragons running the banks. Unless I make them shapeshifting dragons ...

[identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 10:32 am (UTC)(link)
Hee! *pets them both* Er, other writers made you cool?

Mmm. And Magpies would probably be junk-dealers and petty thieves. Wee dragons? Around cat or dog-sized?

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 10:40 am (UTC)(link)
*pets them also* And, you know, gave you genitals.

Hm, but if I go with the shapeshifting, I could have human-shaped dragons with glittery scaled skin, which is oddly appealing to me. And hm, maybe they go out and seduce humans like that, and oh! Oh! The old lady is a dragon, head of one of the biggest banking concerns in the world, generally considered eccentric because she not only slept with a human, but she married him and had a child by him. So her eldest (full-blooded) children are just as happy she's gone and they can run the business without her interference, and the granddaughter, who is part-human, is not allowed a vote on the board of directors or whatnot (possibly she's not of age yet in the eyes of the dragons?) but she's left in charge of the house and the old lady's personal wealth, hence the suspicions--which her relatives encourage because it keeps suspicion off them!

[identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 10:54 am (UTC)(link)
Bwahaha!

Oooh, shiny people, nice. Also, nice way to work in the virgin sacrafice thing.

Oh, I like that! But maybe not eccentic because she slept with a human, but because of the marriage/child thing?

Yeah, the age thing, because dragons are almost alway ridiculously long-lived. Though if the old lady is an old dragon, that make the kidnapping and hiding her thing more problematic.

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 10:56 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, the marriage is definitely the eccentricity, yes. Humans are supposed to be playthings, not settling down material.

Trolls live in the mountains (or lived, possibly modern trolls live in the city, but still have ancestratal caves in nearby mountains?), where there is place to hide her. *ponders* The more I think about this, the more I like it.

[identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 11:06 am (UTC)(link)
Heh.

True. I was just thinking that trolls are perhaps not the stealth masters of the fantasy world and if the old lady had time to get all dragon-y before they clorofarmed/whaked her upside the head, things could get messy. And then they'd have to haul a dragon through the streets.

I like it, too. :D

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 11:09 am (UTC)(link)
Hm, perhaps the trolls are the muscle, and the real brains behind the operation are the kobolds?

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 11:23 am (UTC)(link)
Kobolds? Crap, they're not called that in English and now I can't remember what the right word is. Live underground?

[identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 11:30 am (UTC)(link)
Found 'em! Encyclopedia Mythica is my friend. :)

That's cool, though I still kinda like the idea of the Trolls pulling off this grand, clumsy crime all by themselves. Trolls are underused, IMO.

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
Or perhaps the Kobolds/Goblins think they're using the trolls, but the trolls are actually just using them for their hideyholes and money (feeding a dragon is expensive!) and don't plan to share at all.

[identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Good idea. Double backstabbings are always fun.

[identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
*laughs* You're so cute when you're evil and plotting.

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 12:08 pm (UTC)(link)
*innocentface* what evil plotting?

[identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 12:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Y'know, that innicent face would be more effective were it not paired with an EVIL SQUID ICON.

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 12:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Point. (Hm, sentient squids ...)

[identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 12:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee. (bioluminecent intelligent squid who live in the underground pools in the trolls caves? If those pools connect to the towns water supply they could be spies. No one suspects the squids!)

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 01:03 pm (UTC)(link)
For some reason, my brain wants to put in a squid bartender. *eyes it funnily*

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
You know, when you think about it, it makes sense. Eight arms means multitasking like whoa, and she wouldn't have to worry about being hit on.

[identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly! It's the perfect job.

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
*puts her in* Yay octopedes!

[identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
But how would he/she/it breathe/stay hydrated?

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
It's a special kind of amphibian octopus. *nod*

[identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Hee. Okay. but if it's an amphibian it still needs to stay wet! *slaps inner biology geek*

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
It's fantasy. :P

... Note to self: Do not take this as an excuse for tentacle porn.

[identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
I know! But still, I'm one of those picky people who think natural law should still apply. :P

...Please God no.

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
:P Shapeshifting dragons obey natural law, now?

... But dragons would fuck anything! *sporks eyes out to stop mental images*

[identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
...Shaddup. (well, actually, if it uses up a lot energy and if they have to be careful to not do things like shift back to human on a full dragon-stomach least their human stomach go boom. Or maybe they need to have a full stomach to change. If he dragon form is the natural one they'd need a ton of energy to change it like that.....I should just shup up and let you play, yes?)

*helps with the sporking*

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
*giggles at you* Yes, you dork, let me play with my shinies in peace! I'm not a hard science person, damn you.

[identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 08:38 am (UTC)(link)
*hides face* *embraces her dorkiness*

Okay, I'll be good and let you play now. :D

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 08:50 am (UTC)(link)
Dorkiness: "Weh?"

*shares toys, is a good girl*

[identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
*gives dorkiness a cookie*

Yay!

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 09:21 am (UTC)(link)
Dorkiness: *has no mouth, cannot eat cookie* "Woe."

Is it bad that I would totally sleep with Granddaughter Girl, purely because she's shiny?

[identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 09:25 am (UTC)(link)
Poor dorkiness.

No. Shiny people are hot.

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 09:36 am (UTC)(link)
But fictional character! Who lives IN MY HEAD!

[identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 09:53 am (UTC)(link)
...And?

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 11:28 am (UTC)(link)
GOBLINS!

That's what Kobolds are in English, right.

You're not having a week! I went to the dentist yesterday. She looked at my teeth and said, "Everything looks good." Then she looked at my x-rays, and discovered that I have decay between my teeth, and I need fillings. I am not lying to you when I say that I floss every single day. This is unbelievably unfair.

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel your pain, in more ways than one. It doesn't seem to matter how mych I brush and floss, I have a cavity every single time I got to the dentist. Sigh.

[personal profile] rsadelle 2005-10-26 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yeah, that helps. Grr.
