Still not online at home, but I did manage to get the TV working. Channel 5 is still looking rather dodgy, but I think that's common; I remember the reception for C5 being similarily dodgy when I was staying with [livejournal.com profile] elance and [livejournal.com profile] wibbble in Morningside. I did put up with the dodginess to watch CSI, watched Room 101 on the Beeb, and then made the mistake of switching back to C5 to watch the second half of CSI: Miami. Spent half an hour telling Horatio Caine to STFU. Seriously, even when I actually agree with his selfrighteousness for once, I want him to cram it sideways.

Also watched the Empire Awards. Emma plus half of the HP cast! Matt! Also, Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes--wasn't there concern over when he was seen last, during the J&SB panel at Escapade? I guess this answers that question, then.

*petpet* Horatio does that to everyone. Makes for a terrible show, but a hillarious recap.

But I agreed with him and I still wanted to gag and bind him in the non-fun way! I don't get it, I like David Caruso.

[identity profile] ruby-fruit.livejournal.com 2005-03-16 12:57 pm (UTC)(link)
*shrug?* He has some mysical power to completely piss people off when he's in that role. It's like he tried for Grissom's Zen-Science-Master persona and hit 'God's Red-headed Stepchild' instead. He's actually more annoying when he's right.

I have no real opinon on the Caruso, not being a fan of NYPD Blue.

Channel 5 are (relatively) new, and don't have good transmitted coverage - and don't have the money to expand it.

We don't have watchable C5 here, either.

However: if you get digital or cable, you'll get crystal clear reception on all channels (or no reception at all).

Not sure if I'm going to get cable at all if I can get BT+F2S at the new place, actually. Indoors aerial seems to be working well enough, and for now I'm just happy to have TV at all again.

But yeah, I figured C5 being fuzzy was normal, but thanks for confirming my suspicions. ^_^

You should be able to get cable TV - they're totally separate. You can get digital terrestrial, though, but with just an indoor antenna the signal might not be good enough to get anything useful.

I really want to get 'top-up' digital.

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-03-17 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but then it'll just be money I don't need to spend (as opposed to paying for a package, say), so I'm putting that decision off until I have to decide.

What's "top-up" digital?

Normal digital terrestrial TV gets you the 'freeview' channels, which are the normal ones, plus ITV2, BBC3, that sort of thing. If you get a box that supports it, you can pay a monthly fee and get the 'top-up' channels, which adds T4, some Sky channels, FilmFour (I think).

I really want FilmFour.

We seem to have watched the exact same programs. That is so strange! WoooH! Love CSI. The camera seemed very keen on Emma, she popped up every few seconds. Humph, wish she was uglier.

Emma = my ticket for the bus to HELL! HELL I say! *hides*

Original CSI > Miami, because Horatio just sucks. None of the characters were even mildly appealing in the crossover episode, not to mention that Horatio made me twitch.

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-03-17 10:34 am (UTC)(link)
You're lucky he only made you twitch. He makes me want to throw things at the screen.

[identity profile] kkscatnip.livejournal.com 2005-03-17 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
The presence of the CSI Las Vegas' staff made the "ARGH DIE" turn into "rrr... RRRR... *twitch*" thankfully. Without them I'm sure I would've wanted to throw something at the TV as well.

There was actually concern over whether or not he was allowed to leave the state.

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2005-03-18 10:26 am (UTC)(link)
Aaah, right! Sorry, my memory was somewhat shot by Sunday. But still, now we know he's allowed to leave the country, even. :)

I, for one, am quite relieved.
