Made some more appointments today. Charles White can't show me the place in Millar Place until Monday, which sucks, but I also got an appointment on Friday to go see a place in Leith. Hey, [livejournal.com profile] wibbble, do you have any experience with Dunlop? They sounded nice enough on the phone, and very willing to work with my circumstances in terms of references and stuff, which is a huge difference from yesterday's people. ("Oh, just pay three months up front, it'll be fine." Er, how about NO?)

In other news, I am getting very tired already aboutb the general public's tendency to whinge when they don't get their way. STFU, bitches, I don't majke the policy, and even if I didm, I'd not change it because it actually makes a lot of sense to me. but then I use that freaky logic stuff, so what do I know?

Let me guess, they're whining about the changes to Road Tax and duties on petrol?

The name's familiar, but I've not had any significant dealings with them. Where in Leith? We've got the place on Bonnington Road, so we might be nearby...

In this case, they're whinging about
a) the price difference between the US and Europe (bend over, I'll punt you over there myself);
b) the fact that we require proof of purchase before issueing replacement serial numbers (sorry, logic again, my bad).

Henderson Street, way up north. I hope it's not too small, the agency sounded very willing to work around my problems in terms of references. Very friendly, too.

Ahh. I thought you were talking about just general office chatter.

That's pretty near our place (which is roughly at the 'ing' in 'Bonnington Road' on that map). Cool. From there Great Junction Street you could get the 32 almost all the way to your work. Dunno if it'd be close enough, but it's worth checking. Otherwise you're going to have to get a bus into the city centre and switch, which is irritating.

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2004-07-21 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, IIRC, the 32 goes to the roundabout before the one before my work. If that makes sense. It's about 5-10 minutes walk, or I can swap buses there. No biggie.

The 32 does go there via half the city, though (including the place with the garden we saw yesterday). It'd take some time to get to work - but then, you do always talk about how you're used to Evil Commutes. :o)

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2004-07-21 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly! Hm, let me see which buses I could take, actually ...

Those fold-out bus maps are invaluable. :o)

:P

Actually, the 34 passes Great Junction Street, which is right nearby.

I'm going to buy Lothian Transport's map with the bus routes on it tomorrow. I'll grab you a copy of the fold-out map while I'm in there, if you like? ( Also, any timetables you want me to get?)

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2004-07-21 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, if I give you the money tonight, I could use one of those, if you'd not mind? And time tables for 34, 25 and 45.

Ta. ^_^

Cool. Remind me of the numbers later (probably best to leave me a note of them).

Will do. Are you guys going to be home late tonight, then?

I'm at home now, and E finishes work at five. We're planning to not go outside at all after that. No parent today, and we need Calm Time.

Actually, calling Rush Hour is tempting. Feel like joining us - we could watch some B5 and just generally try and relax?

[identity profile] bubosquared.livejournal.com 2004-07-21 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
Ooooh, twist my arm. :D One of the wraps fron Rush Hour sounds good right about now, actually. I was going to try and stop by a Bank of Scotland to see about getting my paycheck cashed, but as I was late this morning, I'll have to work till 4:15 and won't be able to make it, so eh, fuggit. B5 and Rush Hour it is!

Good luck with the continued apartment hunting. Something good's bound to come up soon. *nods*

Thanks, hon. *hug*
