Bah. Nbo job interview for me. :( They're looking for a) a Dutch native (!) who b) can start at the beginning of May. Personally, I'm thinking good luck to them finding anyone willing to move contries on that short notice, and then they're being picky?

Fuckers. Back to square one.

Well, I'd say you can do that perfectly, but it will cost them extra since you'll need time to find a place and will have to travel back and forth a couple of times during the weekends. If they're willing to pay for all your reasonable expenses during your first months there, you can do it. Just tell them that, in case they can't find any other lunatic willing to do it ;-)

Did I read correctly that since you're Flemish, you don't qualify as a 'Dutch' native ?
Shall I bring boxes so we can start packing your stuff instead of going out buying more stuff to pack later ?

Muahahaha (I said: "Shall I find you a box")

Ha! unfortunately, they're point blank refusing to even consider Flemish people, as they don't want people with an "accent". (Bitch, please, who has the worst accent, me speaking proper Dutch, or a Dutch person speaking what they think is proper Dutch?)

Ha! Box!

(Will reply to your e-mail asap, btw, but I can't do this weekend. First weekend in a month or so I've been able to make it over to my parents, so.)

Beginning of May???? Depends on their vision of beginning of May and even then... you still have to work in Brussels for a while, or not? I've known employers and distributors who thought May 25 was the 'beginning' of May.

I know! I mean, their only hope is to find someone who already lives at least in the UK, and um. Good luck?

Also, my first reaction to that was "Bitch, please! put me in a room with someone from North Holland and someone from South Holland and see who ends up understanding and being understood by both of the others! Sheesh. OTOH, I'm glad I found out about their discriminatory practises before I'd booked a flight or anything, let alone ended up working there. If they're picky about this sort of stuff ...

They asked for someone from Holland? That's just completely weird, because you speak very nice Dutch without any accent at all. And we Belgian are better workers and better companions and better... Oops, and we're also very proud of being Belgian. *g*

I know! I mean, their only hope is to find someone who already lives at least in the UK, and um. Good luck?

Yep, everybody talking Dutch over there probably already has a job.

That's really too bad. :-( But yeah, good thing you hadn't ordered a ticket yet.

The native Dutch bit is kind of funny. Don't these people ever watch Tien voor Taal? =) Feh. And, uh, didn't they notice this when you applied? o_O

Do you have any other options open at the moment?

I applied through a recruiting agency, and the girl there found their pickiness just as ridiculous. And they were mainly concerned about the "accent". Feh, I say!
