So my web host, having fired my contact there, has now truly succumbed to Cranio-Rectal Inversion Syndrome, and both femgeeks and IS are down for the time being. At least my e-mail still works, for now. Feh.

In that light, and since the renewal would be coming up right about now, I'm looking for a new web host, so if anyone has any reccomendations, I'd like to hear them.

Things that are non-negotiable:

TOS that allows (written) adult content, obviously;
No banners;
At least 8GB/mo bandwith;
At least 500MB space;
FTP access;
E-mail addresses;
PHP;
CGI;
PERL;
MySQL;
Decent tech support.

Things that would make me very, very happy:

Unlimited e-mail addresses;
Subdomain possibilities;
Multiple FTP logins;
Webmail;
File manager web interface;
Server-side spam block;
Having lots of control over the above, myself.

Anyone? Bueller?

I know Ventures Online's policy on adult content is good, because I got them to write it when I moved dymphna.net over. They don't have a problem with fanfiction at all.

As far as I know, yeah -- they didn't have a problem moving d.net over. But that was nearly four years ago, so I don't know...

I think I'm going to go with hostforweb.com. Major selling point to me: one of their tech guys suggested them in a slashdot discussion. Their pre-sales question forum has a question about adult fanfic, and their support people said legal adult content is allowed.

Hm, the only question I would have would be if underaged slash (or het) is allowed, but it does look good. :)

FYI, I'm probably going to go with them, especially if I can, as I hope/think, pay by (international) bank transfer. Now that is a major selling point for me. :D

Hm, bit too expensive for my end of things, I'm afraid--I really do need that web space and bandwith, and that makes the price skyrocket like you wouldn't believe. But thanks for the reccomendation, anyway!

Give me a chance to talk to my husband, and we'll see what we can do. We were hoping to move /tolkien over eventually -- maybe we can do a fundraiser and speed that up, if he needs more space on the hard drive for femgeeks.

I have a good host for now--TOS that allows adult content (and their presales people have explicitly said that fanfic is okay!), unlimited subdomains, seperate FTP logins, etc., and on top of all that, I can pay by bank transfer, which means I no longer have to beg my dad to use his credit card. :)

Would this be an actual private server? Cause that'd be cool!

Also, the tolkienslash domain, what extension is that? .net?
