Just when you think you've seen the worst in anti-RPS hysteria, along comes someone who claims that RPS (nd "reality shows") are signs of the imminent downfall of civilisation.

The. Hell?

No, seriously, the hell?

I mean, if you believe that, okay. But grand declarations that you won't be reading RPS, or watching reality TV, because you're "taking a stand" against ... against the end of the world, I guess?

*shakes head*

Excuse me, I need to go get food to stock up for the end of the world, and a TV so I can watch some reality shows, and then maybe I'll go write some RPS.

Edit: Link should work now.

Hmm, I think whoever it was, they took it down - I'm getting an error page. But that could be geocities and their freakin' bandwidth issues.

Um...what?

I mean really, from this person's arguement it could easily be argued back that real people's public personas are fictional characters as well. Just created by an actor or musician instead of a writer. Bah!

Besides, I think I would at least be equally hurt if someone badmouthed something I created over something I was. Cause the creation takes a concious effort. And wanting to be an actor usually entails wanting to be famous. And any rational person would realize that people will think and/or fantasize about you if you're in the public eye. How is it any different if these ideas are written down?

Of course, these points have all been made and I'm just rambling. What is it with people on my friends list making me all rambly dammit!?

Only it won't be the lead in the pipes that gets us this time around...

Oh, man... okay... laughing way too hard... *snickers more* jeeeeez.

And yeah, like Kristine said... she is kind of contradicting herself on the whole 'persona' thing.

But seriously, can we say "overly dramatic tripe"? *snicker*

*snickers*

"If I want to be entertained by reality, I...go to a park and watch birds and animals, or children laughing and playing with their parents, which always brings a smile to my face."

Buahahahahah.

Seriously, someone should get off their burning bush. RPS as downfall of the world indeed.

I've always said that reality shows were the downfall of civilization as we know it, but the end of the world is taking it a wee bit too far. Most amusing. Thank you for my chortle of the day, and I shall hail you as my Antichrist. ^.^

The fuck?

Actually, it is amusing, which is good.

And I can refute her arguments anyway.

I've watched more movies, movies I never would've looked at before, since getting into RPS. I've bought DVDs that I'd probably never have bothered duplicating on tape for the extra features that show the actors as themselves. Watched/rented movies for five minutes of an actor/actress to see how they move/react under certain circumstances.

RPS fans not helping the economy of the source material?

Bull.
