An Anniversary

Ladies, Gentlemen

I propose a toast. A toast to the barely eighteen-year old girl I was three years ago. That girl started a list called RareSlash, three years ago today, because she was fed up with the way non-mainstream fandoms were consistently ignored on multi-fandom slash lists. That girl conciously and explicitely allowed people under eighteen on said list because she didn't like the way she had been treated in fandom mere months before, having to lie about her age or not join any lists at all.

That girl was angry about a lot of things. That girl was me. Ladies, gentlemen, today is the third anniversary of my BOFQ-ness.

Right. Because I make a difference in fandom. I'm not even in fa,dom as much as standing on the outskirts looking in and making cynical and/or cracked-out observations.

Actually, I'm almost always been like that. But it's a fun place to be.

And hey! Just cause I don't like Tequila doesn't mean we can't get drunk together. In fact, at least now you know I won't steal your booze.

Don't sell yourself short. You've done a lot of great stuff for fandom, like RS-X and femgeeks.net.

Well, yes, but how many people actually know I'm behind that? I mean, *ticks off on fingers* RareSlash is three now, and bigger than AllSlash; the RSA is still there, and rather impressive (to me); there's RS-X, the first (?) multi-fandom RPS list, as well as one of the first really "public" RPS lists; femgeeks, etc.

But no one actually connects me to that, which I usually find quite pleasant, but sometimes I'm all "Respect me, dammit, RESPECT ME!"

I'm just having a Justin moment, here. It'll pass. :)

Ah, but you know me personally. Ask anyone on RS who started the list, and maybe five of the 800+ members will know.

And hee! I hope not, since they're rumoured to have broken up.
