Well, apparently, the Flemish education system is quite good, while the Walloon one barely makes it to average, on a European scale. It also doesn't help that we hardly had any classes in our 4th year of secondary school, due to strikes, I'm sure.

Where my historic education is concerned: I'm actually quite proud that I even remember the name of the Guldensporenslag (sp?), so that should tell you something. :-/ It was one of those drive-by things they taught us without context or whatnot. And I'm a complete idiot, as I just remembered it's the other way around: Flemings celebrate the Guldensporenslag, Walloons celebrate the day 'we' kicked out the Dutchies. *facepalms* But, honestly, those are the two only historical events I know about Belgium before it was created. And even after, my knowledge is very limited and mostly due to things I heard or read quite independentedly from school. Yes, we got really crappy education, heh.
