(no subject)

Am knackered. Cannot feel knees below the knees, and my back is agony.

Queed to get on march longer than I actually spent marching, and then, just as we start actually moving, they start showing U2 at Live 8 on the big screens. Bastards. Avoided sunburn, but whacked a few people in the head with my sign (if you see a belgian flag on TV reports, that'll be me, whoo!) and nearly tripped over a toddler half a dozen times. All in all, a fun-filled day. Now I need, in order, a shower, some food, a lie-down, and to clean my flat.

Amusingly, when I was typing in the LJ url, IE's autocomplete (I'm in an internet cafe) popped up with, among other things, [livejournal.com profile] time_and_chips. Ahahahaha!

I saw the flag...I might even have a photo.

:) I'm having a rant about it on my other journal though, for reasons that will become obvious if you ever catch it.
I respect what people did, but I don't respect that people think its 'only a day' - and though I know that's not the intellignet ones involved, many people are taking that line. 'This day will change history'.
NO...sustained action has and will continue to change things. Its all we can do.

Oh, I hear you on that. I went out today to make my voice heard, and because of more personal reasons I may or may not go into in a locked post at some point, but I know more needs to be done. Still, the fact that such an absolute mass of people showed up was hopeful. Especially since it was so cross-generational. I saw little old ladies wearing white MPH headbands and snickering at how silly they looked, and there were aging hippies, not-so-aging hippies, people my age, TONS of families with young children ... It does give me hope for the next generation, at least. :)

But yeah, sustained action is needed, and I think most people there did seem to get that, especially the younger crowd.

(Which, sadly, doesn't mean I'll be at Gleneagles, but that's mostly because that's looking like people may be a bit more squished together there, and nobody's going to be helped by me showing up and then having to be carried off with a panic attack. :/ )

Oh, and, if you could share the photo in any way, I would love you forever. :)
