Okay, people¹, please stop using the phrase "a tad bit". That is not an expression! "A tad" means "a bit", so what you're really saying is "a bit bit". I dobn't know if this is wannabe-Britspeak or whatnot, but it drives me up the wall! *twitch

¹ And by "people" I mean people on various communities I read, not you lot, for the record. Don't hink I've ever seen anyone on my friendslist use that expression. Thank fuck.

Redundant expressions are not completely uncommon. I assure you that no one down here in South Carolina has the kind of pretension to use wannabe-Britspeak, but people say "tad bit" here all the time. I guess that's because we're all so woefully uneducated. *tear*

'Tad' is not even used here, as far as I can tell. The appropriate phrase to use if one wants to sound British (well, this is more Scottish, AFAIK, but hey) is "wee bit".

Oy! I sure hope I've never used that. It sounds wrooooong. Like when people say "CD-skiva" in Sweden. 'Skiva' means 'disc', so what they're saying is "compact disc disc". Drives me up the wall. I keep having to smack my friends, and random people on the street, over their heads. :\

Sounds like computer talk to me... All we ever really do on here is exchanging bits, so while my actions on my keyboard are causing a bit bit bit ... (times approx 50000 ?) ... bit bit bit to go your way, it took quite a tad bit bit bit ... (times approx 50000 ?) ... bit bit bit for it all to get here in the first place.

I should not postpone going to bed a tad bit longer. (In computer terms, that *is* the shortest thing available)
