*pokes around IKEA and Argos websites* According to my calculations, I need about nine metres of shelf space. Nine metres. I have way too many books, yes. This is allowing some space for future purchases, but then, that extra space will be used up soon, as well. I have way too many books. *blinks*

Can't have too many books. Nonsense. Pile 'em up, rope 'em in.

It's not as much fun, but if bookcase space is short, you can always box up some of the books and make a big stack of boxes.

I have approximately 36 feet of shelves, and there are still some books not on them.

When we moved here (and moved in together) we started with two simple book cases (Ikea, very cheap and very nice. Hell to put together, obviously). Of course my uni books weren't included in that, and we could fit all our DVDs on the shelves we had left over.
I think we even had room for a Severus Snape figurine!
Three months later we had to buy dvd case (the size of a book case) for the DVDs. Both books and DVDs were expanding too much :-). But hey, I could fit my "best" videos on the shelves left over from the DVD case... (don't ask, I have dozens of videos with tv shows, films and stuff I taped as a teenager. I think there might be an "MTV's European top 20 presented by Take That" in there somewhere... I am never giving them up, though most of them are in curver boxes in our study. Melissa did allow me to put the "best" "queer film"-videos in the DVD case. At the bottom)

Two months later and I fear the "best" "queer film"-videos will be doomed soon... I want a new shelving system!

Moral of the story? You can never ever have enough shelving when you're a book/dvd-aholic!
