TMI time With Melle: I'm cramping and I want to go hoooooome. *sulks*

Okay, people, somebody pimp some fic at me? I want to print out some stories to read while I go and lie on the grass during my breaks, as long as the weather stays this way. It's too hot to actually walk around, and I've made it a mission to get something resembling a tan by the time I go home in August, so my mother will refrain from mentioning how pale I look and I should get out more, blah blah blah motheringcakes. Anyway. Recs? Anyone?

Also, a (not quite) pointless poll. )

Rec o' The Day: Role Play. Rose/Mickey/Jake. Kinda silly, kinda kinky, kinda very hot.

Got my Congratulations And Thank You For Two Years Of Loyal Service Here's A Pin pin today. \o/ And then I caught myself using the phrase "nae problem," and yes. We are Locutus of the Clan mcBorg, resistance is futile, your accent will be assimilated. Apparently. *facepalm*

Can I go home yet? Or at least on break?

Happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] ktnb!

I'm feeling a bit weird today, will probably be spending tonight napping and/or cleanin or ... something. Or maybe I'll just go on a reading binge; I suddenly found myself wanting to re-read old Metallica slash this morning, and metslash is blocked from here, so the craving has only grown. (And yes, this is an invitation for random recs. :D All fandoms welcome, pretty much, though I'm not known for my love of anime, so.)

Speaking of Metallica slash*, go read and contribute to the stories of Crazy People In Fandom!

* Watch my entire friendslist except a handful of people go "Huh?" at that segue, ahahaha!

Also, that comment meme. )

Three random recs:

Does anyone happen to have any more Rome recs? *waves OTP and OTTP flags*

So I'm idly browing Yuletide, and um. I think I may have finally found a fandom in which I cannot read slash. Mark your calenders, everyone. Heh.

Also, hey, someone wrote S:AaB fic this year, yay!

[ETA] And yet, Pippi Longstocking threesome fic? No problem! The Once and Future King slash? Glee! I am a freak and should just get over it and read the damned Tintin story already.[/ETA]

Alright, people, where are you hiding the Priscilla, Queen of the Desert slash? I've read the two at Yuletide, but there has to be more, right? (My dad sent me (a copy of) the DVD, and I'm remembering how much I love this movie.)

Link of the Day: Cutest Firefly fic I've read in a while. Kittens, people!

Heh. I've apparently gone invisible, as one of my co-workers just asked "Hey, where's Sofie, is she on holiday?" I'm right here, people! *pokes self to make sure I'm still corporeal and stuff* Yup, all here.

Speaking of corporeality (is that a word), there's been another fake LJ death, and I feel like I should reassure you all that a) I am, in fact, real, and b) in case I get run over by a bus or something tomorrow, there will be confirmation from local LJers, at least. I also left instructions for my parents to make sure people know what happened, so if I die, you'll know it's for real.

Oh, and sort of back on the subject of work (because that's all I really write about these days: work and porn, porn and work, and occasionally, a little crack), I rage. A lot. And irrationally. )

Also, GIP! Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] sparklebutch!

*jedi hand-wave* You all need to go and read this , which is a Harry Potter politics AU (... ish) which is geeky and funny and brilliant and also stars my favouritest UK politician ever as Draco's uncle and love!

Randomly: Jean-Paul/Bobby pimp.

So much to do. Gah. Stuff for the RPG, rewriting of an entire scene of the Hooker AU, e-mails, and maybe at some poit I could start on editing/rewriting the NaNovel. Gaaaah. And that's not even counting housework and cleaning and shit. I need to organise my life. As soon as I manage to find two braincells to rub together. Mreh.

( Feb. 20th, 2005 09:41 am)

Firstly, if anyone could link me to any or all of the following:

  • Good Bittorrent sites for comics, especially X-Men and related ilk;
  • Cable/Deadpool slash (... shut up);
  • Good Jean-Paul (Northstar) slash, preferably with Bobby, but I'll read anything decent;
  • Anything else you think would interest me, actually;

I would be very grateful.

Secondly, I feel a ramble brewing about slash and gender and sexuality and ... stuff. Not now, cause I'm way not coherent enough for it at this time of morning, but once I've napped, possibly. I also kinda want to make it a discussion at Escapade, but I don't really even wanna put it on the alternate programming track. I just wanna grab everyone I know at the con and get them in a room, possibly with alcohol, and ramble at each other a lot. Anyone up for that? Heh.

Thirdly, ... I had a thirdly, but it ran away and is probably lying in the sun on Hawaii and leering at the waitresses right now. I'll get back to you on that.

( Feb. 7th, 2005 10:04 am)

Yay, part 36 of The Archer is up! Viggo is an idiot! Finally someone else is acknowledging it! :D

In other news, for the first time in ... years, possibly a decade or more, I'm wearing a skirt for other reasons than that it's too hot for trousers. I feel weird.

If you're at all into Lotrips, you need to run, not walk, to go and read The Archer, which is an AU about spies and things going BOOM and there's Dom and Viggo and Sean and Orlando and Eric and Karl and everyone has lots of sex and and and--Go! What are you waiting for, an engraved invitation?

Watched first episode of new season ER, or at least new season for here; the ep where Kovac dies. Anyone have any Carter/Kovac recs? Also watched CSI, in which Greg admitted that Grissom makes him nervous and Sarah enjoyed the eye candy of Warrick boxing. Mmm.

Hate this keyboard.

So much to do and people to meet up with while I'm here.

OKay. Fine. Fine. I give!

Hey, comic people on my friendslist? Anyone want to give a girl some pointers on how to get into this fandom? You know what kind of thing I like, I'm assuming, and I've sporadically read X-Men in the past, so I at least know who the players are, there. Well, sort of.

ETA: If it helps, from reading [livejournal.com profile] scans_daily, I seem to be developing an odd affection for this Bart fellow. Hm.

Quick! Reccommend me a book/CD/DVD so I can get my Amazon order to £20 and get free shipping!

ETA: Veeeery funny, Amazon, now stop tempting me with Michael Owen books.

( Jul. 19th, 2004 12:52 am)

Anyone want to reccomend me some free ebooks to read? Or anything I don't have to pay for and can download to my iPod to read. I'm especially thinking of catching up on some English and/or American children's classics. Like Narnia. Is that still in the public domain?

( Jun. 10th, 2004 08:57 pm)

Somebody reccomend me a story. Fanfic, original, whatever. I read around.

bubosquared: (contemplative)
( May. 6th, 2004 11:13 am)

SO I recently decided that I'm not going to worry about writing until my life is back on track. These are not the sort of circumstances under which I can be creative. I am, however, starting to get an itch do do something productive, and so I shall be working on websites and stuff this week.

Including setting up a HP Recs Site For People With Taste, except it won't be called that, and really, I just want to have a central place where people with very differenct tastes in pairings and style and content, can recc stories. Not open to all, but with a very mixed "staff", so to speak. I talked about this before, but the software side always worked against me. I think I can make it work, now.

Also, HP Theories. The problem will be deciding whether to start with theories and ramblings on individual people and work my way up/out towards the general Hogwarts and Wizarding World theories, or vice versa. I'm leaning towards the latter.

I think I need to make a list of things I want to do, I think. Because I keep thinking "Ooh, I need to do this and I should work on that and I want to do the other thing, and then it slips my mind.

Also, a list of things I want to do/get once my life settles in, like buy a new computer, take some uni courses, perhaps self-defense classes, things like that.

So does anyone have any book reccomendations? I'm looking preferably for something fantasy that's fairly big, something to read on my 15-hour flight over to the States next month. Anyone?

Edit: I'm also fond of British detective novels, but those tend to be on the smaller, finished in three hours side, and true crime stuff, sometimes, and often non-fic as well. Feel free to throw random recs at me, I'll probably read 'em even if it's not on the plane.
